The end of the year is shaping up to be an exciting time for fans of Call of Duty: Warzone. Recently, a new season for the battle royale launched, introducing new content from Call of Duty: Vanguard while replacing Verdansk with the new Caldera map. On top of this news regarding Vanguard Season 1 for Warzone, a new leak has provided more details about an upcoming mobile version.

Talk of releasing a mobile version of Warzone has been circulating for a while now. Information about the project leaked earlier this year after job postings relating to Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile were revealed. Following these leaks, Activision announced that an internal studio had been created called Solid State to work on a future mobile game relating to Call of Duty. While the exact date for the release of this game was unknown, new information has helped narrow down the potential timeline slightly.

Recently, a new leak has surfaced regarding Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. This news came via a December 7 tweet from industry insider Tom Henderson. In the message, he revealed the possible timeframe for the launch of the game. "Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is scoped for 2022 ,” he said. Besides noting the possible release window for the project, he provided some evidence to back his claim. According to Henderson, the game had been found on the PlaytestCloud database, a playtesting service used by mobile game developers.

In a strange turn of events, Henderson posted a follow-up tweet to his previous message. According to this second post, PlaytestCloud claimed that the mobile game had been listed based on an assumption. As a result, the playtesting service has since removed the title from the database, stating nothing had been confirmed at this point. Furthermore, it claimed no information on the upcoming title was available. However, Henderson ended the tweet by suggesting that the leak was still possibly legitimate. “But when you know, you know,” he said.

This isn’t the only mobile title based on the Call of Duty series. Back in 2019, Call of Duty: Mobile was released, offering players a pocket version of the popular first-person shooter series. That game has seen over 500 million downloads over the past 2 years, suggesting that another mobile title focused on a battle royale mode could have the potential to be a huge success as well.

It’s worth noting that this leak regarding Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile hasn't been officially confirmed by the developer, meaning that this release timeline could change. Nevertheless, Tom Henderson is a prominent figure in the industry and has reported reputable information in the past. It will be interesting to see what other news regarding this mobile entry in the Call of Duty franchise is revealed in the coming days.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
