After the recent release of Rebirth Island in Call of Duty: Warzone, fans are once again on the hunt for the next battle royale map. From datamines to the investigation of currently available maps, some players believe that they know the next Call of Duty: Warzone battlefield. While Rebirth Island has only just been released, it is never too early for the game's community to look ahead.

The rumor that is spreading among Call of Duty: Warzone fans revolves around two of the newest maps in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The maps Ruka and Slope are both located on the Ural Mountains, but file sizes hint that this could be a small part of something much larger.

Rumors point towards the Ural Mountains as the new map location: Within the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Fireteam game mode where both Ruka and Slope take place. In the game files, the maps are listed as "wz_forest" and "wz_ski_slope." Many players are assuming that the map code names are abbreviations for eventual Call of Duty: Warzone drop locations. To further this thought, the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Fireteam maps are substantially bigger than standard 6v6 arenas. They are designed to hose a 40-player game, and if combined could easily fit into a larger battle royale location.

The argument for the Ural Mountains is strengthened further as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Fireteam game mode uses several Warzone mechanics. From parachuting into the locale to pings, armor, looting, and downed states, the game mode seems almost perfect for a Call of Duty: Warzone conversion.

There are tons of connections between Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone since their initial integration. Weapons, scorestreaks, and vehicles could easily be shared between the titles, presenting a battle royale experience that is distinct and different from past arenas.

As of now, these are strictly rumors. Call of Duty: Warzone is rumored to have a massive update coming in March 2021 due to it being the one-year anniversary of the game's launch. As far as new maps go, this would be an opportune window for a new world to be added to the Call of Duty: Warzone in-game map rotation.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
