The Call of Duty: Warzone developers at Raven Software have delayed the release of Ranked Play for Season 4 due to performance issues that players encountered shortly after the season's launch. This isn't the first time that Ranked Play experienced in Call of Duty: Warzone this year, as Season 3 also had a number of issues related to the competitive mode.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 4 launched on May 29 with several content additions to both games. In Call of Duty: Warzone, the Verdansk map received a major update in Season 4, featuring the new POI known as the Overlook. Overlook is a massive skyscraper that can be found in the heart of Downtown with several security checkpoints and construction sites. In addition, Season 4 introduced various new weapons, the limited-time Clash mode on Verdansk, the Hand Cannon killstreak, and so much more. Ranked Play: Battle Royale was also a highlight for Season 4, but Call of Duty: Warzone players will need to wait longer before giving the mode a fair shot this season.

The decision was made due to performance issues that Call of Duty: Warzone players encountered at the start of the season, and the developers are working to bring the "experience back to its intended fidelity" later on, likely within Season 4. A timeframe for a potential follow-up update was not given, but the developers plan to provide more information as soon as possible.

Call of Duty: Warzone players on Twitter aren't happy with Ranked Play being delayed, with some players being frustrated that the mode seems to experience issues regularly. For example, Ranked Play was temporarily disabled in Call of Duty: Warzone on May 7 due to similar issues, including server disconnects and crashes. The issues resulted in players not being properly awarded Skill Rating in Ranked Play matches, and the developers promised to restore the Ranked Play experience back to its intended form.

At the very least, the Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 roadmap looks promising with more new content and features planned for a mid-season update. The content players can expect within the season include the limited-time Havoc Royale mode, Ranked Play: Resurgence, Resurgence Casual, the new Loot Master perk, and Care Package killstreak.
