As part of the big Season 4 Reloaded update, Call of Duty: Warzone secretly added Counter UAVs to the game that can be activated when a squad triggers four regular UAVs in a row. However, a new leak suggests that Call of Duty: Warzone could be adding a much easier way for players to get the Counter UAV in the game, but it sounds like it may end up being quite overpowered.
An image has leaked online of what appears to be a Counter UAV killstreak made available in the Warzone Buy Station. Evidently, if Infinity Ward is really adding Counter UAVs to the Buy Station in Warzone, fans can expect to spend about $4500 on them, making them the most expensive killstreak in the game. But even though Counter UAVs will apparently be the most expensive killstreak in Warzone, they sound like they have the potential to be way overpowered.
The description for the leaked Counter UAV killstreak says that it will scramble all enemy maps, regardless of distance and will incrementally disrupt their HUD the closer they are to the targeted area. This could be interpreted as the Counter UAV will mess with all players in the game, even if they are across the map, though alternatively, it could just mean the targeted area. Hopefully it's the latter, because it's easy to see how fans would get into an uproar about the Counter UAV's implementation in the game, with some fans on Reddit already expressing worry about it.
If Infinity Ward is planning to add Counter UAVs to Warzone, then perhaps fans will find out in a matter of hours. Activision typically releases a "This Week in Call of Duty" blog post on Mondays that detail all the new content coming to Call of Duty the following Tuesday. Presumably, a Call of Duty: Warzone update is coming on Tuesday, July 7, and maybe the Counter UAV killstreak will be properly added to the game at that point.
In the meantime, it will be interesting to see what else comes to Call of Duty: Warzone and the Modern Warfare multiplayer with the next update. Fans are still waiting for the return of Gunfight Tournaments, so maybe that will come this week.
Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
