Following Call of Duty's recent Season 1 Reloaded update, CharlieINTEL reported that dataminer CODWarfareForum (and SemtexLeaks) found many references within the game's files to a Warhammer 40K-themed event. These references include loading screens that feature Warhammer 40K art, new medals that suggest a unique game mode, and references to various enemies from the franchise being featured as in-game bosses. The characters that might be featured in-game are the Baton Jailer, Swamp Monster, Ogre Butcher, and Mummy. A potential release date for this event is not known, so it may be launched soon or not for a couple of months or more. However, the number of references to the event in the game's files might indicate that Call of Duty's development team has been hard at work on this content well before the Season 1 Reloaded update was dropped.

Warhammer 40K has a large following of dedicated fans, making it a good fit for a Call of Duty collaboration.
