Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies received a hefty amount of criticism at launch due to its lack of fan favorite features, and unfortunately, not many have been added back thus far. Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies fans are particularly eager for a server pause feature to be added to the struggling mode.

Even without a round-based approach, Der Anfang matches can go on for a long time, something that has always been seen in Call of Duty Zombies. In older games, players were forced to have someone babysit a crawler if they had to use the bathroom or do something else in real life, which was always a tedious process. This made the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies addition of a server pause a big deal, as it was a needed quality of life upgrade for Zombies fans.

Despite being included in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War at launch, server pause is one of the many missing features of Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies. While the lack of a Pack-A-Punch camo, easter eggs, and Wonder Weapons is certainly frustrating, server pause has arguably the biggest impact on the regular gameplay loop. As such, players have been consistently asking for the feature to come back, with FaZe clan member Jev telling Treyarch about a negative experience they had due to the lack of a pause option.

According to the Call of Duty: Vanguard player, they were kicked out of their solo Zombies run despite only taking a quick break to go to the bathroom. They then ask how and why the feature has not been added yet, questions that many other community members have asked over the last two months. The last update Treyarch gave on the addition of Server Pause is that it would be coming “later in Season 1,” though no exact release date for the mechanic has been provided thus far.

Fortunately, the post that @FaZeJev replied to could give fans a good idea of when the feature will come. Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies’ midseason update will be dropping Tuesday, adding the ability to upgrade perks and a new area to Der Anfang. While not confirmed, it would make sense for server pause to be added as part of the patch. At the very least, players should get answers on server pause in the annual 115 Day Blog Post, which will also be dropping next week.

With many having given up on the mode already, it would take a lot for Treyarch to save Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies. For those that are still playing it, though, hopefully server pause is finally added in the near future.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
