The continually evolving Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard are set to enter Season 3 which comes with loads of new content for fans of both to appreciate. Call of Duty: Warzone will be seeing the first steps of a massive crossover with King Kong and Godzilla in Classified Arms, while Call of Duty: Vanguard sees more multiplayer map offerings added to the existing pool.
Activision Blizzard has confirmed that Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard Season 3: Classified Arms is releasing on April 27 and as a result, both games will see a big update. There are expected offerings from the new Call of Duty Season like a battle pass and Operators. Warzone's Caldera is getting some changes to keep the battle royale gameplay fresh, while Vanguard is set to see one new multiplayer map with the release of Season 3 and one mid-season map. Players of both games will discover some fresh weapons added to the arsenal for Classified Arms such as the M1916 Marksman Rifle, Nikita AVT Assault Rifle, and H4 Blixen SMG.
Godzilla and King Kong are attacking Call of Duty: Warzone's Caldera island as part of Classified Arms and players join Operation Monarch to take them out, but first Season 3 tasks them with investigating mysterious anomalies around the island. The trailer showing off these two beasts states that the "battle begins May 11" which suggests that Call of Duty: Warzone players have some time to familiarize themselves with the Season 3 changes before Kong and Godzilla invade the Caldera. In preparation for their arrival, Caldera is getting a new point of interest called Dig Site, while Runway, Peak, and Lagoon have received changes.
Call of Duty: Warzone players that die after downloading the Season 3 update will be greeted by an offshore Gulag which is called Hold. The new Gulag is designed by Toys For Bob and it's located in the depths of a ship that's moored off one of the Caldera coasts, offering a similar layout to previous ones. Activision Blizzard has teased something "shaking and booming underneath" Caldera as well as some mid-season upgrades to Rebirth Island but has remained vague about this and many other mid-season changes. Call of Duty: Warzone squads will be getting a new game mode as part of Operation Monarch in Season 3, and it's inspired by "classic experiences."
The two new Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer maps are a departure from the Caldera changes as Mayhem is a small map with tight spaces like Das Haus, while Sphere has a dual-layer approach to close-quarters combat. Because Sphere releases with the mid-season update, Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer fans will be able to learn Mayhem before the latter map is added to the rotation of maps. It's currently unclear when Call of Duty fans can expect the mid-season update, but because the start is April 27, it may fall in the beginning of June.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
