Call of Duty: Vanguard may feature less PlayStation exclusive content than previous entries in the series, but there are still some things worth noting. As such, a special Call of Duty: Vanguard trailer has been released that highlights the things giving the PlayStation version of the game an edge.
The brief trailer instantly makes it clear that fans of both Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Warzone will get benefits from playing on PlayStation, as the logos and gameplay from each are showcased. The first benefit that the trailer highlights is the 25% Party Bonus for PlayStation users. Gamers that are on PlayStation, or party up with someone on PlayStation, will get 25% more Weapon XP in their matches - a big deal considering that the Weapon XP exploit from Call of Duty: Warzone will soon be gone.
Call of Duty: Vanguard players will also get two extra loadout slots, allowing for some additional customization. While it is hardly a game changing feature, it does help those who prefer to have a class for every situation. Monthly Double XP events will also be available for PlayStation fans, allowing them to rank up a bit faster than those on PC and Xbox platforms. Further, 5 Battle Pass tier skips are included, with players getting to make some progress through the pass a bit quicker than they would normally.
The final PlayStation Exclusive Call of Duty content is the seasonal Combat Packs. Each time a new Season begins in Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard, a bundle full of special cosmetics will be available to players. The Season 1 bundle is available right now, and it gives the Operator Lucas a skin where he dons a pilot’s outfit. Two blueprints are included as well as a watch, sticker, calling card, and emblem. A 60-minute Double XP token rounds out the bundle, ensuring there are a lot of special items for PlayStation fans.
While Call of Duty: Vanguard or Call of Duty: Warzone players on other platforms may be let down by this exclusive content, it is noticeably less than what was seen in past years. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Survival mode was exclusive to PlayStation owners for an entire year, and so was Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Onslaught mode. While both eventually arrived on the other consoles, they did so at the very end of their respective game’s life cycle.
With no PlayStation exclusive game modes this time around, it will be interesting to see if Activision’s deal with Sony continues. Regardless, those on PS4 and PS5 should make sure to get the most out of the benefits highlighted in the trailer.
