However, players are now encountering serious issues while playing Modern Warfare 3's Ranked game mode.

Players are now past the halfway point in Modern Warfare 3's Season 3 content update, which brought several new items and additions for players to sink their teeth into. Information about the game's upcoming Season 4 update is expected to be revealed later this year, with a new leak reportedly confirming the return of several fan-favorite weapons to Modern Warfare 3 in the near future. Both Multiplayer and Warzone modes remain incredibly popular, providing action-packed gameplay for fans of the series. However, the current state of Multiplayer, specifically Modern Warfare 3's Ranked mode, is incredibly disappointing for fans of competitive gameplay.

New Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Update Released

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is rolling out a brand-new update that addresses several bugs as well as the game's Zombies mode.

Per Dexerto, Modern Warfare 3's Ranked mode has been left in a troubling state post-patch. Despite several nasty glitches being fixed, like a big one that made it impossible to reload while using Auto Tactical Sprint, this most recent update has fundamentally altered Modern Warfare 3's Ranked play. Hackers recently started using an unreleased shotgun that can fire rockets in Modern Warfare 3, and this off-limits weapon is now available in Ranked play as a result of this new update. Cheaters are able to take advantage of this powerful weapon in competitive game modes, with this new update also accidentally making several killstreaks available during matches.

New Modern Warfare 3 Update Breaks Ranked Matches

Players are now able to call in UAVs, which were previously restricted in Modern Warfare 3 Ranked play. These items have been historically banned from most competitive modes throughout Call of Duty, but they were unexpectedly added to the mode with this latest patch. Killstreaks in Modern Warfare 3, like UAVs, fundamentally change the flow of Ranked matches and are features that the mode is not necessarily balanced for. Developer Sledgehammer Games has not yet released a public statement regarding these issues, which were discovered mere hours after the update officially rolled out. It's likely players will get updates from Activision and Sledgehammer soon, which will hopefully address these game-altering issues.

While excitement still abounds in Modern Warfare 3, players are looking ahead to Treyarch, with the longtime Call of Duty developer expected to announce its upcoming new title later this summer. While still unconfirmed, signs indicate that Treyarch's next Call of Duty title will be a continuation of its incredibly popular Black Ops series, with the developer's most recent venture being Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in 2020. Players are especially hopeful that the next Treyarch Call of Duty entry will bring back round-based Zombies, which has been missing from the last few titles.
