Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 is giving CoD fans the chance to check out new traditional multiplayer maps, battle it out in the returning Gunfight game mode, and try out the Urzikstan map in Warzone. Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 has been hotly anticipated by the community, so it's unfortunate that its launch hasn't been without hiccups. That being said, Call of Duty fans don't need to worry about the rank reset error message, even though it says they will have to reset their ranks and lose their unlocks.

Call of Duty fans quickly took to social media to sound the alarm about the error message, with many fans worried that they would soon be losing all the content that they had worked to unlock since Modern Warfare 3 launched last month. The official Call of Duty Updates Twitter account was quick to ease fans' concerns, confirming that the error message is "incorrect." Players will keep their rank, unlocks, purchases, and everything else after they hit "yes" regardless of what the error message says. However, it is possible that loadouts and some in-game settings may be reset, so Call of Duty fans should keep that in mind.

This disturbing error message isn't the only problem that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has run into with the Season 1 launch. It seems that some Xbox users are being forced to re-download the entire game with the Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 update, which is not ideal, as it means downloading over 250 GB worth of data. This is a problem that has happened with Call of Duty on Xbox in the past, but hopefully these issues become a thing of the past.

After all, Microsoft now owns Activision, meaning Call of Duty is officially under the Xbox umbrella. Microsoft made it clear that Call of Duty wouldn't give Xbox preferential treatment, but hopefully Xbox gamers can at least avoid these unfortunate update missteps in the future.
