Season 4 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone has been expected to kick off on Wednesday, June 3 for some time, but now it's been officially confirmed. Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone season 4 will kick off on June 3, and to commemorate the announcement, it has released a new trailer recapping the story so far.
Some Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans may not even be aware of this, but the story of the campaign has actually been continued in the Spec Ops co-op missions as well as through the Warzone battle royale. Currently in the ongoing storyline, Captain Price and his Task Force 141 team are trying to hunt down Mr. Z, who has been causing chaos around the world. This storyline will play out mostly in new Spec Ops missions that are coming as part of season 4, but Call of Duty fans can expect development in other game modes as well.
Besides confirming the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare season 4 start date, Activision has also confirmed that the new season will see the debut of Captain Price as a multiplayer and Warzone operator. Like Alex and Ghost before him, Price should be available to anyone that picks up the Modern Warfare Season 4 battle pass, which will presumably be available when season 4 itself launches on June 3.
It's unlikely that Price will be the only new character added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare season 4, and in fact, Activision has suggested that another fan favorite character could be joining the fray as well. Activision's blog post about Warzone season 4 says, "After an intercepted phone call between Target Denver and one of his elite soldiers, we learned of Armistice finally bringing out their ace in the hole: Task Force 141's finest in Captain John Price and the final squad member he nominated to this Tier One group." This seems to suggest that John "Soap" MacTavish will be joining Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in season 4.
Soap was first teased for Modern Warfare at the end of the story campaign, so it will be interesting to see him finally make his debut. Of course, it's possible that this is referring to a completely different character, and so fans shouldn't get their hopes up just yet. Activision has promised "character biographies" in the coming days, and it's quite likely that the other new playable character will be revealed through one of those.
In the meantime, fans can expect a lot more new content in both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone when season 4 launches. This will likely include new weapons, multiplayer maps, and changes to the Warzone battle royale. Expect more detailed information in the days ahead.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
