A new season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone is less than a day away, and as such, Activision has spilled the details regarding pretty much everything players can expect going into Season 5. That includes the content that will be debuting exclusively on PlayStation.
When Season 5 kicks off tomorrow, players on all platforms will receive plenty of new content, like a new Battle Pass with two free new weapons, as well as a number of new maps for 6v6 multiplayer, Ground War, and Gunfight. On the Warzone side of things, the map will see a handful of changes, most notably the long-awaited opening of Warzone’s stadium.
PS4 players, however, will have a little more to look forward to, as Sony detailed on the PlayStation Blog today. Starting things off, the company revealed that Modern Warfare’s Crash map will be added to the PlayStation-exclusive Survival mode, allowing players to “take advantage of long sightlines or head to the rooftops and lock down a building to outlast waves of enemies.”
There will also be a new Warzone Combat Pack for PS Plus subscribers. In addition to a number of cosmetic and miscellaneous items, the Pack will come with a new soccer-themed skin for Zane, which will unlock the Operator for those who haven't unlocked him yet. The full Combat Pack, which can be downloaded by heading to the Store’s Franchise section and then scrolling down to Miscellaneous, comes with:
- Epic Zane ‘The Footballer’ skin (This skin unlocks the Operator, if not already owned)
- Epic ‘On the Volley’ Weapon Blueprint
- Epic ‘Injury Time’ Watch
- Epic ‘The Sparks’ Charm
- Epic ‘Stunning Strike’ Calling Card
- Epic ‘Sparks Pride’ Emblem
- 60 Minute Double XP Token
Lastly, there will be a brand new Modern Warfare weapon blueprint for PS4 players to unlock. Known as the Grand Rapids, this will be available for players to earn by completing each part of the multi-step objective, rewarding them with a medium range blueprint with “a metallic frosty blue shine” and multiple attachments including No Stock.
The topic of console-exclusive content heated up recently thanks to the backlash to Spider-Man’s PlayStation exclusivity in Marvel’s Avengers. With that renewed anger towards the practice, it’s likely plenty of fans won’t be too pleased to see it continuing in Modern Warfare and Warzone. Luckily, though, Sony confirmed that most of the PS4-exclusive content for Season 5 will only remain exclusive until October 1. It might not be ideal, but at least PC and Xbox players will be able to get it eventually.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone are available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
