Since its launch in 2019, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has received a number of fan-favorite maps from past Call of Duty games, including Call of Duty 4's Shipment, MW2's Rust, and MW3's Hardhat. And it looks as though Infinity Ward plans on adding even more classic maps to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, if a recent leak about the game is to be believed.
According to Twitter account ModernWarzone, which has leaked information on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in the past, the Highrise multiplayer map from Modern Warfare 2 is in the works. ModernWarzone stopped short of providing specifics as to when Highrise will be coming to Modern Warfare exactly, but fans shouldn't hold their breath that it will come as part of Season 4. If Highrise was planned for Season 4, one has to imagine that it would have been featured in the Season 4 road map.
That being said, fans should take this information with a grain of salt. Like any video game leak, this should be treated with a healthy dose of skepticism until an official announcement is made. Considering how many classic Call of Duty maps have come to Modern Warfare already, the addition of Highrise certainly doesn't sound outlandish, but fans should still keep their expectations in check.
Highrise isn't the only classic MW2 map that's rumored to be coming for Modern Warfare. MW2 map Terminal has been rumored for the game since before it even launched, though it still has yet to be announced. Fans also can't rule out the possibility that maps like Highrise and Terminal were once planned for Modern Warfare only to be scrapped, and they should also keep in mind that plans could still change. Maybe Infinity Ward has the intention to add Highrise at this time, but something else could take precedent instead.
Whatever the case may be, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans can count on Infinity Ward continuously updating the game with new content. The big Modern Warfare Season 4 update saw multiple new maps added to the game, including Trench for Gunfight and the MW2 map Scrapyard for standard multiplayer. It's likely that the mid-season update will see another new map or two added to the mix, with yet another big content drop coming with the inevitable Season 5.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
