The release of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 4 trailer have set the game's community ablaze with theories, speculation, and expectations for the game's future. As players prepare for the next season, many are excited about the new operators and cosmetics, but some eagle-eyed fans have noticed more subtle details.
Several Reddit users noticed extra details slipped into the trailer that could hint at upcoming additions to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. One detail that has drawn a ton of attention is the weapons being held by the new operator Captain Price and one of his squadmates.
Two weapons stand out clearly showing one while one showing half of the other. The one that can be clearly seen many fans believe is the Kriss Vector. This gun was first added to the Call of Duty franchise back in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's original release. The Vector is known to be a fast-firing submachine gun with a 30 round clip that works well at short and medium distances. In play, fans have said that it plays close to an assault rifle, as it has the longest three-shot kill range of any submachine gun — battling even the AUG's damage and range in previous games.
The second gun that has caught fans' attention is the legendary Galil. After making its first appearance in Call of Duty: Black Ops this gun has made a name for itself as being an immediate go-to weapon for COD veterans. If added to the game, the Galil will quickly be considered one of the best assault rifles in Modern Warfare. This weapon is a medium to long-range weapon with a 35 round magazine. The gun is fully automatic and packs an unexpected punch against enemy health bars in previous games.
There is more than just a trailer that has built up fan expectations. Not too long ago, a Modern Warfare datamine leaked several guns for the upcoming season. Galil, Vector, and the HK G28 were among the list of possible guns that Infinity Ward may be added to the game.
The addition of these two guns would be widely accepted by fans, as these are popular weapons. Some players still voice a word of caution. In previous games, the Vector has dominated the COD meta and unbalanced confrontations, and the Vector has been a powerful and controversial weapon in past games. Mixing the weapon with the current attachment and blueprint structure could cause a similar effect that would require several balance patches to correct.
The Galil has a similar history that resulting in it gaining a love-hate relationship with fans. Although this is a classic weapon that has been in the COD franchise for a long time, there are balance concerns when players apply the current mod and blueprint structure.
Although there is a mix of excitement and concerns within the Call of Duty community, the guns look like they will be added to the upcoming patch. With Black Ops: Cold War being teased, it makes sense that these guns would be highlighted in Season 4.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
