Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has released a gun nerf update for the FAL and Bruen MK9 in the release of the August 11 patch. The patch for the two player-favorite guns is coupled with weapon buffs for the M91 and Holger-26 as well.

Nerfs and buffs for certain guns have become commonplace as Modern Warfare's seasons continue to play out. While the nerfs usually take away the beloved power of player's favorite guns, it also marks a time for new Modern Warfare  weapons to rise to the top and earn a spot in players' number one load out. Many guns that initially receive buffs, which improve the performance of the weapon, are later nerfed by Infinity Ward due to fans circulating their opinions to the developer.

Following Infinity Ward's release of the official August 11 patch notes, the nerf is confirmed for two guns that have been positioned as some of Warzone's  most overpowered weapons, the Bruen MK9 and the FAL. The Bruen will be significantly nerfed, receiving overall reduced damage range. The FAL nerf is slightly less significant, with only only near damage being reduced. The FAL patch also features increased headshot damage. To add some balance to the patch, Infinity Ward has also included weapon buffs for the M91 LMG and the Holger-26 assault rifle/LMG hybrid. They will both receive increased damage range and ADS speed.

Pros, streamers, and many other well-known players have been revealing their best load outs as new seasons and weapon patches have come to Modern Warfare. Numerous load outs featuring the FAL and Bruen MK9 are considered the meta for both Warzone and multiplayer, including a powerful Bruen MK9 load out created by NICKMERCS.

Following this weapon patch, it will be interesting to see which guns players turn to as new elite load outs are discovered. Previous weapon patches that included tunings such as the Grau and MP5 nerf have caused players to test other guns, including weapons that sometimes receive buffs in the same patch. Players can probably look forward to a new LMG class for Warzone, as the larger ammo clips that don't require use of an attachment slot have proven to be very effective for breaking shields and getting kills. Weapon buffs for the M91 and Holger-26 position the two guns as prime candidates for new elite load outs in Warzone.

The respective nerfs and buffs go live on August 11 following the in-game update players will receive. Players can expect more weapon patches and updates to come as all the new content in Modern Warfare Season 5 continues to soak in. Players should look out for Infinity Ward's Weekly Briefings, which usually reveal new content, key updates to the game, and patch notes.
