In celebration of 4th of July weekend, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the Warzone battle royale are currently hosting a double XP weekend, giving players double XP, double weapon XP, and 2x Battle Pass tier progression. At least, theoretically. In actuality, many Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players are reporting that they aren't really getting double XP this weekend, indicating that it could very well be bugged.

This problem was pointed out by Radeni on Reddit, with their post nearing 20,000 upvotes at the time of this writing, indicating that the Modern Warfare Double XP bonus is not working for quite a lot of players. Using the Hardpoint game mode as an example, Radeni pointed out that the Hardpoint itself was only giving 450xp instead of the 900xp that it would typically dole out during a Double XP weekend event.

While some fans seem to think that Infinity Ward or Activision are hosting a "fake" Double XP Weekend on purpose, the more likely explanation is that it's just bugged. Hopefully a fix comes soon, but if not, it's possible that the Double XP bonuses will be extended, which isn't unprecedented. At the time of this writing, neither Activision nor Infinity Ward have actually weighed in on the matter, though, so it's unclear what exactly they plan on doing to address the complaints.

The Double XP weekend bug isn't the only XP bug that's currently plaguing Modern Warfare and Warzone. Fans have also noticed that the Rytec AMR sniper rifle is not leveling up as it should, preventing them from unlocking the attachments they want to use for the new gun. Unlike the apparent Double XP weekend bug, Infinity Ward has actually acknowledged the Rytec AMR XP bug and has confirmed that a fix is on the way.

Furthemore, Infinity Ward has offered a workaround to those impacted by the Rytec AMR bug while they wait for a patch. Apparently, all Modern Warfare players need to do to fix the bug is to remove the Rytec AMR's explosive rounds. This should allow them to continue getting Rytec AMR XP as normal, and should make unlocking all of the attachments they need much easier.

In the meantime, fans can check out some of the other bonuses in Modern Warfare that are live this weekend, including the long-awaited return of the Shipment 24/7 playlist.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
