Summary
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has a glitch where running next to a stationary car can result in instant death, impacting the player's kill-death ratio.
- This glitch may have been carried over from the original Modern Warfare 2, and similar car glitches have been observed in other maps and game modes.
- Sledgehammer Games, the developer, could resolve this glitch in future updates to the game.
An unlucky Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 player has seemingly been killed by running next to a stationary car. Cars have been part of the series' map design since the beginning, but this Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 vehicle may be one of the most dangerous.
Even before Call of Duty entered the Modern Warfare era, games in the franchise featured vehicles in multiple forms. Some Call of Duty missions have tasked players with controlling vehicles, and other missions and maps use them as objects to clutter the playing field. When Warzone was released, players could finally use some of these vehicles in a multiplayer setting. While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has some vehicle map clutter, players can't maneuver the cars as they can in Warzone. However, while running near one of these inactive cars, one player has been killed in a peculiar way.
Reddit user Albert_Neinstein recently shared a clip from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's Invasion map. Though it was remastered in Modern Warfare 3, Invasion dates back to the original Modern Warfare 2. The video begins with the player aiming down their pistol's sights before turning to run. Sprinting towards a car, the player is killed instantly. Based on the Modern Warfare 3 death log, the gamer died from suicide. While it's possible for a player to kill their own character in the game with grenades and exploding vehicles, the suicide claim seems inaccurate in the Reddit users' case. The clip concludes as the player respawns in a nearby building, but not without affecting their kill-death ratio.
According to one Modern Warfare 3 fan, this bug can be spotted on the Underpass map as well. In one of the Underpass spawn areas, players have a chance to be killed instantly by respawning in two cars. Because gamers aren't intended to be inside or driving cars in multiplayer, this may be a preventative measure from Sledgehammer Games. One player pointed out that Modern Warfare 2's Santa Sena Border Crossing had a similar glitch. This may suggest that cars like this are a continuous issue for Call of Duty developers. One Zombies player also confirmed that some cars in the game mode have a similar glitch which may indicate that vehicles are unsafe to be around.
Given that Invasion is a remastered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map, this glitch may have been carried over from the original. As glitches like this can cause unexpected deaths, the team may have gone on to lose the match. As Sledgehammer Games continues to update Modern Warfare 3, it's possible that this glitch will be resolved in the future.
