To level up fast in Modern Warfare 3, players must earn XP across three categories: Weapon, Rank, and Battle Pass.

  • Weapon: This XP levels up the player’s gun collection and can only be achieved using base weapons to complete challenges or kill enemies.
  • Rank: This XP raises the player's rank to the max cap (level 55), and it's the only method to unlock killstreaks, field upgrades, lethal and tactical equipment, and armory.

The fastest way to rank in MW3 is to activate XP tokens to boost the experience gained. To use these tokens, go to the Multiplayer screen, open the XP window on the left side of the screen, and select which XP to activate: Battle Pass, Rank, or Weapon. These tokens last 30, 45, or 60 minutes in real-time, so players must ensure they can play for the entire duration of the XP token before activating it.
