- This year's Haunting event introduces a new multiplayer map called Drive Thru, along with variants for popular maps like Meat, Shipment, and High Rise.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 players are unhappy that the game's new Haunting event skins will not carry over to Black Ops 6. Unique skins and collaborations are nothing new for the Call of Duty brand, with much of this additional content carrying over across multiple games. This is not the case with the latest Haunting skins in Modern Warfare 3, with players quick to share their disappointment, frustration, and anger online in response.
Released at the end of 2023, Modern Warfare 3 has continued to grow and change, receiving several major content updates and gameplay improvements over the last year. A portion of the game's success and attention is a direct result of the many collaborations Modern Warfare 3 has taken part in, with players able to purchase characters from every corner of pop culture, from Amazon's The Boys TV show to real-life WWE athletes. However, Modern Warfare 3 recently announced its newest Haunting event, which includes several spooky skins that will unfortunately not be carried over to Black Ops 6.
Activision Pulling the Plug on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Support Means One Character is the Odd Man Out
The post-launch support for Modern Warfare 3 will be dying down shortly, and it seems that one beloved COD character has been left in the dark.
Reddit user PuddingZealousideal6 shared their thoughts regarding the decision to limit cross-game items with Modern Warfare 3's new Haunting items. "Why would they give us such a dope skin when it won’t even carry over into the next multiplayer in 6 weeks," asks the user. While the Call of Duty brand keeps expanding, fans think some aspects of the franchise are going backward, with the decision to exclude Modern Warfare 3's new Haunting skins from Carry Forward. This program became integral to the Modern Warfare ecosystem, allowing players to carry over skins, items, and progression to multiple games. However, not everything will carry over between Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 6, with other players and fans lashing out about the new Haunting skins.
Players Unhappy That Haunting Skins Won't Carry Over to Black Ops 6
The post struck a chord among Call of Duty fans, receiving over 300 comments in less than 24 hours. "Because they are developing for Warzone. Everything else is an afterthought," said one user. "Same thing came to my mind. Bo6 literally comes out before Halloween," another Redditor chimed in. It's unfortunate that Modern Warfare 3's new skins will not be transferred over to the next game, though Treyarch's upcoming Black Ops 6 will likely introduce a range of new skins and customization options as well. "Black Ops 6 literally comes out before Halloween, what a slap in the face," responded user tantrumstep.
First introduced alongside the incredibly popular map Verdansk, Call of Duty's Haunting is a spooky limited-time game mode that turns off the lights and sets players up for some terrifyingly fun encounters. Last year's event saw several horror icons make their way into the game, such as Spawn and Ash Williams, as well as Lilith, the main villain in Diablo 4. In this year's event, players can look forward to a creepy new multiplayer map called Drive Thru, as well as a number of fun variants for popular maps like Meat, Shipment, and High Rise. Michael Myers is also one of the legendary skins included in Modern Warfare 3's season 6 battle pass.
