The best Call of Duty players have great weapon loadouts, attachments, and Perks to take down enemies quickly, land one-shot kills, and oppress opponents with firepower. These loadouts can be improved and enhanced using the Gunsmith system. The Gunsmith system is a sub-menu that allows players to tune and customize their rifles to suit their playstyle and push their limits.
The latest Call of Duty title, Modern Warfare 3, has introduced changes to the Gunsmith system through the Aftermarket Parts feature. This new subsection is an innovative way for players to dramatically alter how their weapons function to make them faster and deadlier. Here’s everything players need to know about the Aftermarket Parts feature.
Call of Duty: MW3 Season 1 Adding Gunfight and 4 New Maps
Activision teases what fans can expect from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 1, including four new multiplayer maps and the return of Gunfight.
What is The Aftermarket Parts Feature?
The Aftermarket Parts feature gives players an entirely new way to interact with weapons they’ve already mastered and played out. Unlike the traditional Gunsmith system in MW2, which only allows players to tune and tweak their weapons, Aftermarket Parts transform guns into entirely new weapons, which regular attachments can’t. For example, the Conversion Kit allows players to construct unique weapon configurations, turning the gun’s identity into something new and much more powerful on the battlefield.

Each Aftermarket Parts has designated unlock challenges that players must complete to access the kits. For example, to unlock the JAK Raven Kit, players must complete any 5 challenges from Week 1. For the Broodmother.45 Kit, players must complete 3 daily challenges.
Players can either complete Armory challenges or Weekly challenges to access Aftermarket Parts. However, at the moment, most of the parts can be found in the Armory system, so navigate to the Armory page to find the designated challenges for the Aftermarket Parts. Players can only use the Aftermarket part if the associated rifle is at the maximum weapon level. This means players have to level their weapons before accessing and using Aftermarket parts to transform their rifles.
