Some Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players want Activision to remove the Survivor perk from the game, or at least provide means to counter its effect. Modern Warfare 2 comes with a few new features that differentiate it from 2019’s Modern Warfare, with a new perk system being one of its most notable changes.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 allows gamers to choose four perks, with two available at the start of the match and the other two unlocked during it. The ones available at the beginning are called base perks, and players earn the bonus and ultimate perks over the course of the match. As expected, the ultimate category features some of the best perks in Modern Warfare 2, but some fans want one of them to be removed from the game.
A Reddit user named draculadarcula has shared a clip from a free-for-all match on the Shoot House map in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It shows the player repeatedly killing opponents, only for the Survivor perk to activate, forcing the player the shoot them again to get the kill. The video highlights the impact of the Survivor perk on the flow of the match, as draculadarcula calls for this perk to be taken out of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, or for Activision to provide a way to counter this effect.
It seems like many players agree with draculadarcula, with several stating that it should not be a part of Modern Warfare 2. Some fans believe that headshots negating the effects of the Survivor perk would be a great way to balance it, as users would be rewarded for their precision. One user also finds it annoying that the person who shoots the downed enemy gets rewarded for the kill, instead of the gamer responsible for activating Survivor.
On the other hand, some fans state that Survivor isn’t all that useful, especially against opponents that are good at the game. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players not interested in using this tactic can choose from other viable options like Ghost and Quick Fix.
Gamers should note that Activision is going to make changes to the speed at which perks are earned during matches when Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 launches. Fans will be able to access the bonus and ultimate perks far more easily during matches, but some players argue that such a perk system should not have been present in Modern Warfare 2 in the first place.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X
