On March 31, Call of Duty Mobile kicked off its fifth season with the Steel Legion update. Activision's latest additions to the mobile game include classic elements from Call of Duty's popular Black Ops series, including several familiar weapons and characters. Other elements (like a 2v2 showdown game mode) also drew inspiration from the fan-favorite, Modern Warfare.
In a recent blog post, Activision re-introduced David Mason and Reaper, two classic characters from the Black Ops series. While the two new characters can be unlocked through the Premium Pass, Call of Duty Mobile's Battle Pass also features the GKS submachine gun from Black Ops 4.
The game also explained the 2v2 showdown mode and re-introduced a 20v20 battle royale, which will be available for a limited time. Players will also be able to earn the Man-o-War high damage assault rifle, and Ruin, both hailing from Black Ops 3. Finally, Activision teased the addition of the Meltdown map from Black Ops 2.
With Call of Duty Mobile's newest season, Activision is clearly ensuring that the app receives as much support as the series' main counterparts. Despite recently losing its Zombie mode, the game still has plenty for players to unlock. Hopefully, this will allow Mobile to forge its own unique identity among the other games.
Call of Duty Mobile is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
