One of Call of Duty: Warzone's most unique and popular features is that of the Gulag, which gives players a second chance at winning the popular battle royale mode after they've died the first time. The feature itself has been essentially universally praised as a great feature and one that allows the game to stand out among a crowd of battle royale-based games. Now it seems like a map based on that feature might be making its way into Call of Duty Mobile, thanks to a newly-discovered reference to the map found in the game's test servers.
The news comes the way of YouTuber Bobby Plays, who found the reference to the map in the Call of Duty Mobile beta. While there's no detailed screenshot of the map itself, a 3D blockmesh, unplayable version of the map was found and it looks pretty much exactly like the 1v1 map featured in Call of Duty: Warzone.
It's important to note that this version of the Gulag more than likely won't be added to Call of Duty Mobile's battle royale mode as a feature similar to Warzone. Instead, it will probably be added to the game's 1v1 multiplayer mode. It would make more sense there, plus a new "feature" for Call of Duty Mobile's battle royale mode probably wouldn't be found in the game's download list, which features extra content. Still, it'll be interesting to see how similar it actually is to Warzone's gulag.
It's also important to point out that, as of the time of this writing, none of this has been confirmed. Like with all things found in the game files, there's a chance that this is just remnants of older assets and there are no plans to bring the map to the game. Still, with the insane popularity of Call of Duty: Warzone, it wouldn't be surprising in the slightest if the developers brought over elements from that game, even if it was just for the standard multiplayer.
All in all, this crossover would be exciting. Having two free-to-play Call of Duty games crossover with each other would definitely be interesting and each would in turn help spread word about the other. We've already even begun to see it with the new Call of Duty Mobile-themed watch that was released for Warzone players a few weeks back. Having a map based on Warzone's most popular features just makes sense.
Call of Duty Mobile is available on iOS and Android devices.
