Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's ongoing Season 5 is running on all cylinders, thanks to fresh gameplay experiences, new cosmetics, new weapons, a recently released celebrity operator skin, and so on. The upcoming Reloaded update could very possibly be the final mainline update for Modern Warfare 2, leading to the soon-to-be-released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Call of Duty titles have gone through major updates throughout the years, bringing several changes to the flow of post-launch content. Moving away from the days of expansions and map packs, Call of Duty has since shifted to a seasonal model, with each title receiving multiple seasons running for three to four months at a time. Seasons begin with a major update chock-full of new gear, cosmetics, multiplayer and battle royale updates with an overarching narrative tying the seasons, and a balance patch. Reloaded patches are released during the middle of a season's runtime, bringing several extra updates to pre-existing or newly-released content, including changes to battle royale maps, new weapons and gadgets, alongside new cosmetics.

Activision has officially announced a Reloaded patch for the ongoing Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone that launched on August 2. According to the official announcement, the patch will introduce three new weapons, three new operators including the return of Mace from Modern Warfare, 21 Savage celebrity operator and Lara Croft, new game modes, a brand new multiplayer map, expansions to the DMZ mode, an extensive balance patch and much more. The details on the patch notes aren't available currently, with the publisher assuring a lengthy one shortly before launch.

From a gameplay perspective, Warzone is receiving a lion's share of the love through the return of Armored Royale and a new Resurgence experience focused around Al Mazrah's Al-Bagra Fortress and its surroundings. The DMZ missions are also being updated with the Shadow Company faction receiving the higher tier missions. The in-match Communications upgrade tasks are also receiving a facelift, and a new boss is also incoming to the DMZ. As for the multiplayer, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is receiving a new map called DRC-Zone 1 and a new game mode called Gunfight Snipers, based around duos.

The Season 5 Reloaded patch is slated to release on August 30. Activision assures players multiple times that most of the rewards earned in Modern Warfare 2 will be carried over onto the new title, including the ones in the Reloaded patch and all the camos and pro-issue weapons blueprints earned from Ranked playlists.
