The upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will have split-screen, but not for its co-op campaign mode. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is the first game in the series to feature a co-op campaign since Black Ops 3 in 2015. All the games since then have either featured single-player campaigns or, in the case of Black Ops 4, no campaign at all.
So far, much of the marketing for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has focused on its campaign. The reveal trailers have featured the campaign extensively, revealing the return of fan-favorite characters and confirming that the game is effectively a direct sequel to the beloved Black Ops 2. We also know that Black Ops 7 will feature 4-player co-op for its campaign, but unfortunately, split-screen will not be supported in the mode.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Ditching Carry Forward Feature
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is doing away with the 'Carry Forward' feature that let skins and other content transfer from one game to the next.
Black Ops 7 Co-Op Campaign Does Not Have Split-Screen
The Best War Games reached out to Activision representatives for clarification on whether the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 co-op campaign will include split-screen support. Unfortunately, Black Ops 7 will not have split-screen for its co-op campaign. The Black Ops 7 campaign can either be played solo or online. This is somewhat disappointing since the Black Ops 3 campaign had split-screen co-op, but at least the feature isn't being completely abandoned by the new game.
The official support page for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 confirms that the game will have split-screen in some capacity. Black Ops 6 featured split-screen for both its Zombies mode and multiplayer, and so it's highly likely that the same will be true for Black Ops 7. So even though the Black Ops 7 co-op campaign is skipping split-screen, at least there will still be some local co-op action to be had in the game's other modes.
More information on the other Black Ops 7 game modes will be coming to light in a matter of weeks. The big Call of Duty NEXT reveal event is scheduled for September 30, and it will be pulling the curtain back on Black Ops 7's Zombies and multiplayer modes.
The same event will most likely give Call of Duty fans details on what they can expect from the game's beta. For those wanting to play Black Ops 7 multiplayer ahead of the game's official launch on November 14, the beta will first be available in early access on October 2 for those that pre-order or are signed up for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate/PC Game Pass. The beta will then open to everyone on October 5 and last until October 8.
