Gamescom Opening Night Live gave fans their first proper look at Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's campaign, and it looks like it's going to be a very experimental entry. The entirety of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's campaign can be played solo or in four-player co-op, and that player-count is increased to 32 during the campaign's final "Endgame" mission.
There's a lot of new tweaks and additions to the usual Call of Duty campaign formula this time around. But much like past entries, at the heart of the story, there's a typical team of stoic badasses. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will introduce Specter One, an elite team of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) soldiers that's home to both familiar and fresh faces.
Meet the Cast of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's Specter One
David "Section" Mason
First introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's campaign, David Mason – call sign "Section" – is the son of Black Ops 1 protagonist Alex Mason. In the year 2025, David Mason hunts down the global terrorist leader Raul Menendez with the help of his other JSOC comrades.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's campaign picks up 10 years later, with Raul Menendez seemingly back and promising to wreak havoc on the world in three days' time. Mason leads Specter One in their hunt for the truth behind Menendez's reappearance, a journey that will test the entire team's psychological state.
Milo Ventimiglia, best known for his work in This Is Us and Heroes, is set to play David Mason this time around.
Mike Harper
Another familiar face, Mike Harper is also returning in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, where he's once again played by Guardians of the Galaxy and The Walking Dead's Michael Rooker. Part of the original JSOC team that took down Raul Menendez in 2025, Mike Harper is Mason's closest friend and ally. In the 10 years between Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 7's campaigns, Harper reportedly transitioned to a mentorship role in JSOC, but quickly decided he preferred a life on the frontlines, despite his age.
Eric Samuels
Though Eric Samuels is another Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 alum, his appearance in the 2012 campaign was far more understated than Mason and Harper's. Samuels appears during Black Ops 2's penultimate mission, where he essentially replaces Harper if players allowed him to die in the previous "Achilles' Veil" mission.
While Samuels was originally a member of the Secret Service, the 2025 Los Angeles terrorist attacks shook his faith in the agency's security systems. In 2031, Samuels joined Mason's JSOC team, seeking to make a more tangible impact on the world. Though Samuels gets along well with Mason, he finds Harper and Tupuola's methods a little too chaotic.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's Eric Samuels will be played by John Eric Bentley, a prolific voice actor with almost 250 credits to his name, according to IMDB. One of the most notable credits is Bentley's portrayal of Barret Wallace in Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth.
Eric Samuels' appearance in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was teased in Black Ops 6, with players being able to obtain a Samuels Operator skin by achieving Prestige Master Level 1000.
Leilani "50/50" Tupuola
The fresh face on the team, Leilani "50/50" Tupuola is a New Zealand operative who's suffering from a degenerative disease. To stay ahead of her horrific ailment, Tupuola has augmented her body with cybernetics, including a bionic arm and leg that both pack a serious punch. Undergoing such experimental procedures caught the eye of Mike Harper, who recommended she join JSOC's Specter One unit. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's campaign will be Tupuola's third operation under the command of David Mason.
Tupuola will be played by Frankie Adams, best known for her work in The Expanse.
Troy Marshall
Troy Marshall played a key role in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's campaign, being a member of Woods' elite team of CIA agents forced to go on the run to stop the evil Pantheon organization. Flash forward 44 in-game years and Marshall has become a Colonel and the overseer of JSOC. In Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Marshall will act as Specter One's guardian angel. Y'lan Noel will presumably reprise his role in the upcoming entry.

Raul Menendez
Though it's unclear in what exact capacity, Raul Menendez is back in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. The orchestrator of Alex Mason's death and the leader of the global terrorist organization Cordis Die, Menendez is one of the Call of Duty franchise's best villains. Jesse Corti will be voicing Menendez this time around, who Death Stranding fans will know as the voice of Deadman.
Emma Kagan
Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka will play Emma Kagan, the leader and face of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's Guild organization. Originally brought into the organization by Sevati Dumas, Kagan now runs the global tech conglomerate, which now offers robotic military "protection" in the face of Menendez's sudden return.
Slade “Razor” Barrick
Little is known about Slade "Razor" Barrick aside from that he acts as the leader of Specter Two, another elite JSOC unit that waits in the wings in case David Mason needs an assist.
