New information, which comes from a credible insider and leaker, claims that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 may see the return of looping scorestreaks, a feature that was first introduced back in 2008 with Call of Duty: World at War. Although developer Treyarch Studios has yet to confirm whether or not Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will allow players to loop scorestreaks, fans are already ecstatic at the prospect of the mechanic's potential return.
As EA finds huge success with the first Battlefield 6 open beta weekend, Call of Duty fans are patiently waiting to see more from the next instalment in the series to see how it will compare to Battlefield's big comeback. As of writing, fans have only seen a small snippet of Black Ops 7 via a cinematic trailer back in June, but an official reveal is now just a matter of days away. Unlike previous years, Activision has left fans waiting much longer than usual, but a full worldwide reveal for Black Ops 7 will now take place on August 19, which means the community may finally get a closer look at the game's new and returning mechanics.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's Pre-Order Bonuses Are Already Obvious
Like other entries to the IP, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is expected to come with pre-order bonuses, with some particular benefits being very likely.
Looping Scorestreaks May Return in Black Ops 7
After being introduced in Call of Duty: World at War, the ability to loop scorestreaks has shifted in and out of the series over the years, largely due to the fact that it's a very divisive feature. For those who may be unaware, it allows players to rack up streaks in a single life and keep the momentum going. But for those on the other end of the stick, going against an enemy with stacked streaks can make for an awful game. While looping scorestreaks aren't available in Black Ops 6, it looks like they could be returning for Black Ops 7, according to TheGhostOfHope.
TheGhostOfHope is an incredibly reliable source when it comes to Call of Duty leaks, but fans should still take this information with a pinch of salt until it is confirmed by either Activision or Treyarch. With that being said, fans seem to be ecstatic at the thought of looping scorestreaks returning in Black Ops 7. Twitter user BSoloe responded to the rumor by stating, "This should just be in every [Call of Duty] by default," while Frankie said that it feels "next to impossible" to carry a team in Black Ops 6 without looping streaks.
Giving fans highly requested features, such as looping scorestreaks, is the right way to go if Activision wants to win the war against Battlefield 6 later this year. While Call of Duty regularly dominates the sales charts and the first-person shooter genre, it has some stiff competition this year as Battlefield is seemingly back with a bang. Call of Duty fans are growing increasingly tired of unrealistic cosmetic items and poor gameplay decisions, and although Activision reportedly isn't concerned about Battlefield 6, the shooter's first open beta weekend managed to surpass Call of Duty's all-time peak concurrent player count on Steam, which could be a sign of things to come.
