A new leak has revealed how many Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 6v6 multiplayer maps will be present at launch. The number of 6v6 maps in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is fairly par for the course, but there's some good news sprinkled in there for BO2 fans, too.

Announced back at the Xbox Games Showcase in June, many were surprised to see Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 announced so soon after BO6, breaking away from the typical alternating COD release schedule. In the months since, there has been no shortage of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 multiplayer leaks, offering some insight into what players can expect from the next game in the long-running FPS series.

Battlefield 6 is outpacing Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in a recent fan excitement poll, and the gap between them is impressively large.

Black Ops 7 Will Feature 16 6v6 Maps At Launch, With Three BO2 Remakes

This latest leak is courtesy of reputable Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope, who, in a post on X, has claimed that there will be 16 6v6 maps in Black Ops 7's multiplayer at launch. Comparatively, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 featured 12 6v6 maps on day one, which would make this a considerable increase if it turns out to be true. On top of that, TheGhostOfHope also claims that there will be two Skirmish maps at launch.

There's some very good news for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 fans, too. According to TheGhostOfHope, three of the 16 maps are Black Ops 2 remasters, with the remaining 13 being entirely original. In recent years, the Call of Duty franchise has leaned on map remasters heavily, some would argue excessively so. However, three is a sweet spot where players can still revisit some old favorites without being inundated with them at all times.

call of duty black ops 7 switch 2 launch rumor

With Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 set to appear at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19, fans are about to get their first official taste of the game since its reveal earlier this year. Treyarch is describing it as a "Worldwide Reveal," so hopefully that also involves showing off the multiplayer and campaign equally.
