Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 fans eager to find out more about the upcoming shooter will want to mark August 19 on their calendars, as Gamescom host Geoff Keighley confirms the game's worldwide reveal will take place during the event's opening night. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was first shown to the world with a mind-bending teaser trailer back in June, but publisher Activision has remained relatively silent on the title ever since.
After a record-breaking launch for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 last year, Activision appears to be attempting to continue the momentum with yet another entry in the Black Ops series. While Treyarch Studios will once again be the head studio for Black Ops 7, the shooter is being co-developed with Warzone studio Raven Software. The first trailer for the next Black Ops game was shown during the Xbox Games Showcase back in June, confirming the return of some of the series' most iconic characters, including David Mason and Raul Menendez.
Call of Duty: WW2 is Doing Very Well on Xbox Game Pass
Despite recent controversies, Call of Duty: WW2 reaches a milestone on Game Pass that's quite impressive for an eight-year-old game.
Aside from an initial teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, very few details on the title have been shared. The trailer and accompanying information from Activision revealed that the next Black Ops game will be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2, set in the year 2035. It will also feature a co-op campaign, Multiplayer, and round-based Zombies. However, those eager to find out more only have a few weeks left to go, as Gamescom host Geoff Keighley has now confirmed that a full worldwide reveal for the next Call of Duty game will take place on August 19 during Gamescom Opening Night Live. The event kicks off at 2PM ET / 11AM PT / 8PM CEST, and it looks like fans will want to tune in immediately to see the full reveal of Black Ops 7.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Confirms Worldwide Reveal Date
It's unknown exactly what will be shown during the event, but given that new Call of Duty titles often launch in late October/early November, there's a strong chance that fans are given their very first look at Black Ops 7 gameplay. Although there are very few official details on the game so far, there have been a ton of leaks surrounding Black Ops 7. Just a few weeks after the game's first trailer, Treyarch Studios accidentally published a new message of the day in Black Ops 6, which featured unseen images of Black Ops 7 and details on some new game modes. According to the leak, Black Ops 7 will feature a new 20v20 Multiplayer mode known as Skirmish. Players will battle it out and complete various objectives, such as capturing points of interest, destroying payloads, and more.
Despite previous leaks, Activision has also gone on record to confirm that Black Ops 7 will not feature wall-running or jetpacks. The studio revealed that the shooter will feature an evolution of omnimovement, a new system introduced in Black Ops 6 that allows players to run, jump, and dive in any direction, but will not have wall-running or jetpacks as some fans were led to believe.
Call of Duty fans were confident that Black Ops 7 would feature some form of wall-running after certain Warzone players managed to access in-game files with the movement system earlier this year. Why these files were added to the game still remains a mystery, as Activision has assured fans that Black Ops 7 will be a boots-on-the-ground shooter.
