Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has just announced its Season 1 roadmap, and it's one of the most impressive post-launch plans the franchise has ever had. Season 1 will bring five all-new multiplayer maps and a holiday-themed variant of Nuketown to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, alongside seven new weapons and a handful of new Operators. Call of Duty: Warzone is also set to receive a new Resurgence map and a gameplay overhaul, where Black Ops 6-exclusive features like Omnimovement will be added to the battle royale.
But some of the most exciting Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 1 content revolves around the game's Zombies mode. Unlike past entries where the mode has been completely forgotten about in post-launch seasons, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Zombies mode is set to receive a new round-based map during the game's first season. Fans don't have all the details on this new map yet, but it already sounds like it could deliver a Call of Duty Zombies experience fans have craved for years, and it could mark the start of a very bright future for Black Ops 6.
Every New Feature Confirmed for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 1
Treyarch has finally revealed its plans for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's fist in-game season, with a huge amount of fresh content being on the horizon.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Citadelle Des Morts Is a Good Sign for Zombies' Future
Fans Were Cautiously Optimistic Following Terminus and Liberty Falls' Release
Before launch, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was being marketed as the long-awaited return of classic round-based Zombies, and naturally, some fans were a little cautious. Many fans were especially skeptical about Black Ops 6's Liberty Falls map. When Liberty Falls was first revealed properly at the Call of Duty NEXT event, some fans criticized it for looking like another generic open-ended map that could be found in Modern Warfare 3 or Cold War's Outbreak mode.
Thankfully, after getting their hands on the game, many fans have come around to Liberty Falls. While Liberty Falls does still lack the atmosphere of many of its predecessors, it feels like a classic Call of Duty Zombies map in many ways, with its interconnected level design and abundance of Easter eggs being a welcome return to form. Terminus is viewed with even higher regard, having the atmosphere that Liberty Falls lacks while also offering a greater challenge with its claustrophobic layout.
In the end, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Zombies mode has largely been the return to form that fans needed after Modern Warfare 3's disappointing foray into open-world Zombies. Terminus and Liberty Falls may not be perfect, but they prove that Treyarch still knows what it's doing with the mode, and more importantly, knows what fans want moving forward.
Citadelle Des Morts Proves Treyarch Is Heading In The Right Direction With Zombies
After the recent Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 1 roadmap reveal, it's even clearer that Treyarch knows exactly what fans want from the game's Zombies mode. Sometime during Season 1, Black Ops 6 is set to receive a new Zombies map named 'Citadelle des Morts.' Based on the image and Treyarch's official description, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Citadelle des Morts map will see Weaver, Maya, Carver, and Grey heading to an abandoned European medieval castle and village.
Already, it sounds like Citadelle des Morts is giving Call of Duty Zombies fans exactly what they want. Being set in a castle, Citadelle des Morts seems to be hearkening back to Black Ops 3's Der Eisendrache, which is widely regarded as one of the best maps in CoD Zombies history. The continuation of the Terminus crew's story is also great to see, presumably coming with new voice lines and story-related Easter eggs to uncover.
Citadelle des Morts will also be introducing a new enemy type to Black Ops 6 Zombies, and at some point during Season 1, the mode will receive three new Gobblegums, a new support weapon, a new Perk-a-Cola, 18 new Augments, and new, currently unspecified, Wonder Weapons. If Treyarch can continue to produce Zombies content like this every season, then Black Ops 6 could end up being home to some of the best Zombies content in series history.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.
The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
