Summary

  • Fans speculate on a potential Zombies Chronicles 2 DLC in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 based on new character skin hints.
  • Weaver's Repairman skin features patches representing classic maps, sparking discussions of possible future content.

Longtime fans of the Call of Duty Zombies mode might have spotted a teaser for new DLC in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 zombies. The Easter egg, which is visible on a new Black Ops 6 character skin, could be a reference to Zombies Chronicles, a Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 DLC.

Call of Duty Zombies has been one of the franchise's pillars for years now, ever since its introduction in Call of Duty: World at War back in 2008. That said, its prominence has waxed and waned as different developers took the reins of the franchise over the years. With Treyarch leading the development of Black Ops 6, innovative mechanics in Call of Duty Zombies and the mode's long-running story are back in the spotlight.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies is a Hit, But Its True Test is Just Around the Corner

The early reception of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies has been quite positive, but the next steps for the mode will be a true make-or-break moment.

With that in mind, fans are also noticing what they think are potentially subtle hints and teases of upcoming plans for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies. According to Reddit community member finster20071234, the latest hint could be a follow-up to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3-era Zombies Chronicles DLC, based on a telltale detail on a new premium skin sold in the IDEAD Tracer Pack.

Call of Duty Zombies Fans Think A Weaver Skin Might Hint At Zombies Chronicles 2

According to a screenshot shared by finster20071234, the new Repairman skin dresses Zombies character Grigori Weaver in a closed red jumpsuit covered in sew-on patches based on classic Call of Duty Zombies maps, including Der Eisendrache, Shangri-La, Shi No Numa, Tranzit, Kino Der Toten, Moon, The Giant, and Buried. Given that the patches are made to resemble tourist patches that travelers will wear to show where they've been, the patches naturally imply that Weaver's fought in all those places. It also happens that several of the maps referenced were once part of Zombies Chronicles, a Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombies map pack that remastered eight Zombies maps from the previous games, allowing players to catch up on the Zombies timeline.

Reactions from the comments were mixed, with some players concluding that it makes sense for Treyarch to celebrate one of its most popular modes by bringing back favorite maps. Others suggested that the patches are merely an Easter egg reference to the old maps, and questioned whether Treyarch would really be willing to remake so many classic Call of Duty Zombies maps. Some veteran Zombies players pointed out that some of the maps referenced, like Shi No Numa, have already been reintroduced multiple times across several games. Treyarch bringing them back yet again as a premium DLC could rub customers the wrong way and prompt accusations of "recycling" content.

Whether the Weaver outfit is merely an Easter egg or a hint at future plans, the discussion does reflect how long Zombies has been around as a part of the overall Call of Duty franchise. Treyarch clearly has plans for the mode, whether they involve reviving beloved content or exploring new frontiers in zombie-fighting.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.

The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.

In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.

Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
