A Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 player has found the layout of a classic map from Call of Duty: World at War hidden away in Skyline, one of the game's 16 original launch maps. Having just launched last week, players and critics are raving about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. All three modes of the game are receiving massive praise, most notably its Zombies mode, which returns to the series' classic round-based format. Some have also been calling Black Ops 6's single player campaign one of the best in Call of Duty's long history.
It can be argued that Call of Duty: World at War marked a turning point for Treyarch, which, prior to releasing the 2008 World War 2 FPS, got its big Call of Duty debut with the franchise's third overall installment, released in 2006. In many ways, World at War put Treyarch on the map as a main Call of Duty studio, and served as the precursor to what would become the studio's beloved Black Ops subseries. Black Ops is largely considered to be the most popular Call of Duty series, especially when taking into account the last two Modern Warfare titles, which weren't as positively received.
Just a couple of days after the release of Black Ops 6, one player found evidence that a particular World at War map could be making its return. On Twitter, M3RKMUS1C posted a short clip of them exploring the areas around Black Ops 6's Skyline map and stumbling upon a layout that looks strikingly similar to World at War's Japan-set Courtyard map. Since the area isn't fully rendered, the textures of the area are muddy, but one can easily make out Courtyard's defining structural features.
World at War's Courtyard Map Found in Black Ops 6's Skyline
The fact that this Courtyard area is attached to Black Ops 6's Skyline map makes it seem highly probable that both maps will be baked into the highly leaked and rumored Call of Duty: Warzone map unofficially known as Avalon. Black Ops 6 players have been making similar findings exploring the outskirts of some of the game's other multiplayer maps, and the running theory is that all these areas will be part of Avalon, which is thought to be coming to Warzone sometime in 2025.
It was rumored that, much like what last year's Modern Warfare 3 did with Modern Warfare 2' s (2009) maps, Black Ops 6 would add a number of Black Ops 2 maps post launch. Perhaps M3RKMUS1C's discovery is evidence that Treyarch is also planning to get some more World at War maps involved, which would be interesting considering the 2008 title isn't part of the Black Ops series.
As Call of Duty players are enjoying Black Ops 6's launch, Treyarch is undoubtedly preparing to unveil everything that's coming as part of Season 1, which is expected to begin in early December. If Courtyard really is part of Avalon in 2025, fans shouldn't expect the map to become available in Black Ops 6 multiplayer until the new Warzone map releases.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.
The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
