When Black Ops 6 was first released, skins did not carry over from the previous Call of Duty game. This offered hope to fans that Black Ops 6 might take a more grounded approach to cosmetics, after the increasingly wacky offerings in recent releases. Despite players complaining about unrealistic Operator skins in Black Ops 6, Treyarch quickly followed the same path as other titles, with cosmetics that look like they were pulled from other universes. With the crossover cosmetics, they often are. Ultimately, while controversial among some players, they wouldn't exist if they weren't popular.

After the Black Ops 6 x Squid Game update, the unicorn fart cosmetic still plays in matches, but its preview in the in-game store has been changed to a completely different animation. The new animation shows the unicorn kicking the enemy into the player's arms, and then charging it with its horn. It's no less immersion-breaking, but it's definitely a little less crude. It's unclear at the moment if or when Treyarch will completely switch the animations, but it certainly seems like a possibility.

The Black Ops 6 unicorn fart finisher was first added to the game a few weeks ago. If Treyarch makes the change from the store preview permanent in-game, then it won't have taken long for the studio to reverse course on this one. Overall, Black Ops 6 fans accept a lot of crazy cosmetics, but it's understandable if some felt like this was well and truly jumping the shark.

While the unicorn finisher might be changing, that doesn't mean the wacky cosmetics are going anywhere. Just recently, a Call of Duty dev explained why the series won't stop releasing weird skins, pointing out that the series prefers to prioritize fun over realism. With the Squid Game collaboration now released, the wait has started to see what Treyarch might have in store when Season 1 Reloaded finishes and Season 2 begins, although no date has been confirmed for this as of yet.
