A new Stan Smith skin is receiving massive backlash from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players, as many are outraged by the overall quality of the new cosmetic item. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's unexpected collaboration with American Dad and Beavis & Butt-Head has already drawn criticism from players due to the overall theme of the event not aligning with the game's tone, but now fans are also expressing dissatisfaction with the poor design quality of the skins.

The debate around unrealistic cosmetic items in Call of Duty is a tale as old as time. While recent entries such as Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 6 have seemingly increased the output of these types of skins and weapon blueprints, they aren't exactly anything new. In fact, wild and outlandish Call of Duty skins can be traced back all the way to 2014's Advanced Warfare. Even the likes of Black Ops 2 and Ghosts experimented with glowing weapon camos and marijuana-themed skins. But with Black Ops 6 taking things to a whole other level, fans believe the Call of Duty series is losing its identity and becoming more and more like Fortnite every single day.

With the launch of Season 4 Reloaded came even more controversies, this time surrounding Call of Duty's collaboration with Beavis & Butt-Head. But just as fans believed things couldn't get any worse, Activision launched a new CODToons event that saw American Dad characters Stan Smith and Roger Smith added to the game. Players have already expressed how the theme of the skins does not suit Call of Duty's aesthetic, but now they are blasting the overall design quality of these skins. The Stan Smith skin in particular is drawing a lot of flak from players, with some even questioning whether or not Activision's quality assurance team even exists.

Black Ops 6 Players Shocked by New Stan Smith Skin

The new Stan Smith and Roger Smith operator skins can be obtained via the in-game shop, but there is currently a CODToons event in Black Ops 6 and Warzone that features plenty of cartoon-themed rewards. Unfortunately, the event and the accompanying skins haven't gone down well with fans. Over on Reddit, user TemporaryQuail9223 said, "If you told me this was photoshopped or AI, I'd believe you." While others, such as Happy-War-7257, said they "don't mind the goofy skins," but noted that the overall quality of the cosmetic items is incredibly poor. "If they want to attract the Fortnite kids to COD, at least put in the level of detail Fortnite does into these skins," the user went on to explain.

With the launch of Black Ops 7 rumored to be just a few months away, many fans were hoping that Treyarch Studios would use the opportunity for a clean slate and take the series back to its more grounded roots. However, that doesn't look to be the case. Earlier this week, a new ESRB rating gave fans a brief insight into the themes of Black Ops 7, while also hinting that Black Ops 6 players will be able to carry forward their cosmetic items into this year's entry. This means that all of the controversial skins and cosmetics currently available in Black Ops 6 will be immediately available in its successor.
