Ahead of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta's launch, fans have expressed their desire for the iconic PPSh-41 SMG from classic Call of Duty entries to return in the upcoming game. Many Call of Duty fans remember this Soviet-era SMG from 2008's World at War and 2020's Black Ops Cold War, which were both developed by Black Ops 6 developer Treyarch.
Black Ops 6 will bring back some of the Call of Duty franchise's tried-and-true features from Black Ops 1 and 2, including round-based Zombies and the traditional Prestige system. Players may climb the ranks and aim for the coveted Prestige Master rank in multiplayer, and Black Ops 6's returning Theater Mode will allow them to watch replays and matches to see how they recently performed. With the potential for more callbacks to previous Treyarch-developed entries, some fans wish that the PPSh-41 SMG would be available in Black Ops 6.
Reddit user benmetalhead wants the "legendary" PPSh-41 SMG to make its return in Black Ops 6 and hopes to use it in tandem with the game's omnidirectional movement system. In addition, benmetalhead would like to use the weapon in the Black Ops 6 version of Nuketown, which is a map that's beloved in the series for encouraging constant close-range gunfights. Many Call of Duty fans in the Black Ops 6 subreddit share a similar sentiment, with some recounting their fun experiences with the SMG in World at War, Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard. Other players, including user SirVyval, would like to see the PPSh-41 go head-to-head with the returning PP90M1 SMG in Black Ops 6, but it's not been confirmed if the former will make its return.
Call of Duty Fans Want the PPSh-41 SMG to Return in Black Ops 6
Although the PPSh-41 is more than likely not going to be available on day one, Black Ops 6 players may look forward to a variety of SMGs. Further, the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 open beta will give players the opportunity to try out some of the game's weapons in online multiplayer matches. The Black Ops 6 early access beta will be held from August 30 to September 4 on all platforms, followed by the open beta for all players from September 6 through September 9. Black Ops 6 digital pre-orders grant players entry into the early access beta, and Xfinity Rewards members may also obtain a beta code at no additional cost.
Gamescom Opening Night Live will reveal new details about Black Ops 6 on August 20. What's more, Call of Duty fans won't have to wait much longer for another update, since the Call of Duty NEXT event is expected to reveal information about Black Ops 6 and future Warzone updates on August 28. After the October 25 launch, Black Ops 6 players can expect a year of updates and support, which could potentially involve the return of fan-favorite weapons and maps from past games.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.
The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
