Summary

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta will be the first to launch on all platforms simultaneously in August.
  • PlayStation's exclusivity deals for Call of Duty games are now a thing of the past.
  • The beta will have an early access version on August 30 and a full open beta on September 6.

When the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta goes live in August, it will be the first time that a Call of Duty beta goes live across all platforms at the same time. For years, PlayStation and Xbox have inked deals with Activision to secure exclusive content for Call of Duty games. However, that will all change with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Originally, Activision and Xbox had deals to secure timed exclusivity for Call of Duty DLC packs, but then the momentum shifted to PlayStation, with the latter getting first dibs on multiplayer betas and sometimes even entire game modes. Call of Duty's PlayStation exclusivity deals were highly controversial, but they are now a thing of the past.

How To Get Into The CoD Black Ops 6 Beta

Looking to experience Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Multiplayer early? Here is how to get access to the Black Ops 6 Beta!

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be the first time ever that there is parity between platforms when it comes to a new Call of Duty game's beta. Everyone, regardless of platform, will have the chance to play the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta, with two sets of beta dates announced. First up is the Early Access beta from August 30 to September 4, which will be available to those who pre-order the game and anyone who signed up for the Xbox Game Pass. Then, the open beta will be live from September 6 to September 9; no pre-order or Game Pass subscription is required.

When is the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Beta?

  • Early Access: August 30 to September 4
  • Open Beta: September 6 to September 9

When Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard, there was a great deal of concern that this would result in the company playing favorites by making Call of Duty content exclusive to Xbox. So far, that doesn't seem to be the case. In fact, Microsoft signed a 10-year deal agreeing to release Call of Duty games on not only PlayStation platforms, but even Nintendo consoles as well. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will not be released for the Switch, but presumably, this will apply to future games in the series and the Nintendo Switch successor console, which still has yet to be officially revealed at the time of this writing.

As for what fans can expect from the beta, that remains to be seen. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has confirmed omnidirectional movement and various other tweaks that will make up its multiplayer experience, but a proper, full-blown reveal of the game's multiplayer has yet to take place. Presumably, such a reveal will also highlight the maps, modes, and weapons that players can look forward to when the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta goes live on August 30.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.

The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.

In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.

Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
