Summary
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players are unhappy with many of the game's best skins being locked to one faction.
- Popular skins, such as John Black Ops and Trail Blazer, are all on the Crimson One side.
- Players feel as though they are being forced to choose between the best skins in the game as they are all on one faction.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players are pointing out a major problem with the game's skins, as fans believe the majority of "good" skins are all locked to just one faction. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has drawn a massive amount of controversy from the first-person shooter community since its launch in October 2024, with the majority of complaints about the game being related to in-game cosmetics.
One of the most recent sought-after skins is John Black Ops, a new operator for Crimson One that is exclusive to the new Black Ops Tribute Event in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. The event is currently live in-game until May 1st, with plenty of rewards up for grabs simply for playing either Warzone or Black Ops 6. Unlike past events, which required players to obtain certain collectibles during Multiplayer, Zombies, or Warzone matches, the Black Ops Tribute Event simply requires players to earn a certain amount of XP. Once a specific threshold is met, a new reward will be unlocked, with the lucrative John Black Ops skin being the final reward.

A reliable Call of Duty leaker teases an upcoming collaboration between Black Ops 6 and the hit action series, Mission: Impossible.
Black Ops 6 Players Point Out Major Problem With the Game's Skins
But like many of the other best operator skins in Black Ops 6, John Black Ops is part of the Crimson One faction. For those who may be unaware, there are two factions in Black Ops 6 Multiplayer: Rogue Black Ops and Crimson One. When loading into a match, players will be split between the two factions, which then determines which skin each player will enter the game with. Many of Black Ops 6's most in-demand skins, such as John Black Ops, are locked to Crimson One, and many fans aren't happy about that.
Reddit user Imaregretthislater_ echoed the sentiment of many other players, asking why "every cool/good skin is always on one side." Others, such as Dapper-Hovercraft-59, also agreed, saying that it is "so annoying" and that Rogue Black Ops "doesn't have any nice skins." Others also pointed out that the incredibly rare Trail Blazer skin from Warzone's Return to Verdansk event is also part of Crimson One, forcing players to choose between either John Black Ops or Trail Blazer.
The Trail Blazer skin was the talk of the community when Verdansk returned with Season 3, as its drop rate during the event appeared to be incredibly low. Unlike other cosmetic items in the event, Trail Blazer was given to players at random when opening safes around the map. Fans quickly complained that the drop rate was far too low, as many were reportedly opening hundreds of safes without unlocking the skin. With the event now over, it is considered one of Warzone's rarer skins as it is now unobtainable.
This isn't the first time that fans have been unhappy with Black Ops 6's operator skins, although it is usually for an entirely different reason. Many players often complain about the realism behind the game's cosmetic items, with fans recently urging Activision to slow down on Black Ops 6's weed-themed skins. The sudden increase in the number of marijuana related bundles appearing in-game in recent months have been blasted by fans as "boring," with many questioning when they will come to an end.
