Some Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players are calling for the new Beavis & Butt-Head operator skins to be nerfed, as one fan highlights a significant discrepancy between the skins' visual design and their actual hitbox. Although all Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 skins have identical hitboxes, many of their designs vary in shape and size, which can lead to players missing shots that they believe should have hit. The Beavis & Butt-Head skins, with their notably large and exaggerated heads, have sparked criticism, with some players even referring to them as "pay to win."
The sudden rise in unrealistic cosmetic items has been a major talking point in the Call of Duty community since the release of Black Ops 6 last year. While previous entries in the series have also featured crossovers and outlandish operator skins, Treyarch's most recent Black Ops game has taken things to a whole other level, and the majority of fans don't seem to be happy about it. Controversy first arose all the way back in the game's first season, when the release of a neon-green Dragon Knight skin sparked outrage among Black Ops 6 players. The tone of the game has continued on the same trajectory ever since, with each new collaboration and unrealistic skin bundle often causing some form of controversy.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 May Force BO6 Into a ‘We Have That at Home’ Situation
With Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 just around the corner, BO6 will surely want to help hype up its successor, but one classic trick may be off the table.
From Squid Game to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is no stranger to collaborations. The shooter's latest crossover event arrived with its Season 4 Reloaded update earlier this month, bringing iconic cartoon characters Beavis & Butt-Head to the world of Call of Duty. Unfortunately, the collaboration has once again stirred up a fresh controversy as players believe the skins are "pay to win." In a new post on Reddit, user Volanologist2 showed a short clip of them seemingly shooting an enemy with the Butt-Head operator skin directly in the head. However, due to the skin’s exaggerated design, the shot failed to register within the actual hitbox, which many believe is unfair.
Black Ops 6 Player Points Out Major Flaw With Beavis & Butt-Head Skins
Although some have defended Call of Duty's Beavis & Butt-Head skins, many believe the discrepancy between the design of the characters and their actual hitboxes makes them difficult to deal with. Reddit user Trollcat2012 said, "Skins should visually match the hitbox," and others seem to agree. User Tirtel even went as far as to say that hitboxes being smaller than the character model is "bad game design." However, some players don't believe the hitboxes should be changed; they just don't want to see these types of skins in Call of Duty at all. "This is why cartoon characters don’t belong in an FPS. Creates wtf moments like these," Reddit user Born4Nothin said.
The crossover also came with yet another Black Ops 6 Event Pass with some Beavis & Butt-Head-themed rewards. The event once again comes with a free and premium version, the latter of which will set players back 1,100 COD Points. Both passes come with some cartoon operator skins, but it is the premium version that will reward players with the titular characters. The Beavis operator skin is unlocked as an instant reward when purchasing the pass, while Butt-Head is the final reward for players who earn enough XP during the event.
