  • Call of Duty introduces new Battle Passes with every season, with the next set to be introduced on May 29.

Some Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone players are boycotting the game's seasonal Battle Passes as they believe progression is far too slow, especially for casual players. With each new seasonal content update, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 introduces a new Battle Pass for players to purchase. Every Battle Pass has a free and premium version for players to purchase, each having their own in-game rewards for players to get their hands on.

After the concept of Battle Passes found huge success in other titles such as Fortnite, Activision released its very first seasonal Pass with the launch of 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 1. While the feature had been tested to a certain degree in Black Ops 4, this marked the first Premium version that fans could pay for. A controversial Blackcell Battle Pass was then introduced in Modern Warfare 2, requiring players to fork out even more money if they wanted to unlock some more exclusive cosmetic items, such as weapon blueprints, operator skins, emblems, and much more.

Call of Duty Players Say Battle Pass Progression Is Too Slow

Since its launch in October 2024, Black Ops 6 has found itself in hot water with players multiple times. While controversies are usually surrounding the game's unrealistic cosmetic items and overpriced microtransactions, some players are now opting to boycott the seasonal Battle Pass due to its slow progression. In a new post on Reddit, user Beneficial_Cable7314 said they will no longer be purchasing seasonal Battle Passes as progression has been "slowed down so much." The user noted that they are "not a casual player" but they also have a job, and questioned how other players who play less frequently are supposed to complete the Battle Pass. "Unless they speed them back up, this is my last [Battle Pass]," the user stated.

Plenty of other players also chimed in with similar sentiments. Reddit user Darkfawful2 said that Black Ops 6's Battle Pass progression being based on time played as opposed to score and kills per game is "dumb," while JarthMader81 says the most recent Pass "felt like a chore" and noted that they won't be purchasing the next one.

Some users, such as Inferno_xxiv, have even speculated that the most recent Battle Pass feels like it may have taken longer to complete due to less Call of Duty double XP events. While Treyarch recently confirmed that a new double XP event will be live in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone from May 23, the user noted that there has only been one double XP event with double Battle Pass XP for Season 3. "Seasons 1 and 2 had double Battle Pass events to start the season and one in between before having one on the final weekend," they pointed out. Unfortunately, most of Season 3's events have been solely for level and weapon XP.

Fans can expect a brand-new Battle Pass to arrive with Season 4 next week, but it looks like players may finally be growing tired of the constant grind required for all of the rewards. But for those who plan on purchasing the upcoming Battle Pass, Activision has confirmed that Stitch will be leading the charge along with Adler, as the two will have some brand-new operator skins available in the Pass. Fans will also find two new weapons, a new weapon attachment, plenty of new skins, and much more.
