Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 just announced Season 4 of the first-person shooter, and there is plenty for players to look forward to. Guns like the LC10 and FFAR 1 bring the firepower, while a fresh crossover event with upcoming action flick Ballerina continues the franchise's tradition of high-profile collaborations. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 teaming up with Ballerina makes perfect sense, but it also raises one glaring question.

With the premiere of Ballerina only a few weeks away, Black Ops 6 is right to jump at the chance to promote the movie. Starring Ana de Armas, the Ballerina-inspired skin is modeled after her appearance. Since Ballerina is a John Wick spin-off, it's a really exciting addition for fans of the franchise. However, it also makes one wonder if John Wick himself will ever finally make it into a Call of Duty game.

Black Ops 6's Ballerina Collab Brings John Wick to Call of Duty in an Unexpected Way

  • Ballerina is set to hit theaters on June 6.
  • While Ballerina follows protagonist Eve Macarro, Wick still appears in the film.

Since the first John Wick movie premiered back in 2014, the action-packed story of the titular assassin has spawned an entire franchise. Between spin-offs like The Continental and Ballerina, the brand is branching out into other stories, as well. Over the years, Call of Duty fans have been hoping that Wick would get added to the game eventually, but that day has yet to come. The John Wick franchise is no stranger to video game crossovers either, which makes the protagonist's absence from Call of Duty that much stranger.

The character of John Wick has been featured in Payday 2 and Fortnite.

Ballerina Hopefully Sets the Stage For a Full-Blown John Wick Crossover

Of course, it's important to note that Ballerina looks like a promising time at the theater. Since the franchise's beginnings, each main entry has been a success, so Ballerina definitely has the potential to be a summer hit, especially with the talent of Ana de Armas leading the story. Despite this spin-off's exciting direction, though, Keanu Reeves as John Wick still remains the star of the show.

Ballerina is compelling, but it doesn't have the same pull as John Wick, and that's what makes it so surprising that Black Ops 6 is finally embracing the franchise, but in a completely different way. Call of Duty crossovers have featured multiple characters from a series before, so bringing both Eve Macarro and John Wick to Season 4 of Black Ops 6 could have potentially been a more effective way to promote Ballerina.

The John Wick franchise is no stranger to video game crossovers either, which makes the protagonist's absence from Call of Duty that much stranger.

Bringing John Wick to Call of Duty May Be Easier Said Than Done

When it comes to the legal red tape of getting Keanu Reeves' likeness in Call of Duty, there may be more hurdles than one might realize. Two years ago, an executive at Lionsgate revealed that a John Wick video game was potentially in the works. Since then, there hasn't really been any further word on such a project, but if the game is in development, then Lionsgate may be far more selective with what franchises Wick himself partners with.

Season 4 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on May 29.

Yes, Wick appearing in Call of Duty would make a lot of sense, but there may never be a clear answer as to why the crossover hasn't happened yet. Black Ops 6's new season may not bring forth the John Wick team-up that many fans were hoping for, but it's at least a crossover set within the character's universe.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.

The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.

In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.

Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
