Activision first implemented the Ricochet anti-cheat in Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone, and it has been optimized since then in subsequent releases. While it's present in every Call of Duty game since its implementation, players continue to spot cheaters in Black Ops 6. With many gamers spam reporting accounts that they suspect are cheating, the developers are acting against malicious reporting.

The Call of Duty Updates Twitter account recently shared a post regarding spam reporting in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. According to the post, a player repeatedly reporting another, presumably within a specific time frame, won't result in quicker or stronger penalties for the player getting reported. The system works in a way that only considers the first report and "throttles" any further ones. As spam reporting doesn't affect Call of Duty cheaters more than a single report, the gamer filing may face the unintended consequence of harming their own account. Over 8,000 accounts have already been banned for malicious reporting, which suggests that the issue is widespread.

Call of Duty Will Take Action on Accounts That Spam Report

While Ricochet anti-cheat is regularly updated to combat the latest hacks affecting Black Ops 6, players continue to spot others using aimbot and other cheats. As the Call of Duty Updates post confirms that accounts have been banned for malicious reporting, gamers are discouraged from filing multiple reports on one player. Banning spam reports has been seen as overstepping by some gamers, but after receiving spam reports from over 8,000 gamers, this measure may be an effort to prevent Ricochet from being overwhelmed. One gamer has suggested denying spam reports with a pop-up message that tells a player they've already reported the account.

With Ricochet continuing to improve with each patch, it may be a matter of time before cheating is eliminated from the Call of Duty series. As Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 continue to receive updates, Activision may find a workaround to the spam reporting issue.
