Another day, another major Call of Duty: Modern Warfare bug has come to light. A new bug experienced by a Modern Warfare Twitch streamer is causing a lot of worries within the community. The bug in question caused a number of textures to simply not load during a match. These textures included walls, giving the Twitch streamer vision of their enemies' movements. While the bug occurred on Modern Warfare's Shoot House map, it's possible that it could occur anywhere.
The Twitch clip comes from Twitch streamer GalaxEGaming. They appear to be playing a standard match on Shoot House when everything goes awry. GalaxEGaming doesn't activate the bug themself, though they do take advantage of it. Shoot House's textures simply stop being loaded correctly, so GalaxEGaming uses the advantage to get some easy kills. "Everyone's going to report me 'cause they think I'm hacking," says the streamer, though that doesn't stop their streak.
Modern Warfare players don't have to panic over this bug yet, at least. Since GalaxEGaming doesn't know how they started the bug, it doesn't seem reproducible for the time being. That means that even though Modern Warfare players are aware the bug is possible, they can't take advantage of its benefits. That also means that Infinity Ward likely won't be able to recreate the bug in order to make a fix for it, though, as well.
While the knowledge that the bug won't be a common occurrence in Modern Warfare may ease some concerns, it is still a potentially major issue. The existence of the clip shows that the bug does exist, at least on the Shoot House map and at least on PC. It's possible that any other Modern Warfare player in a given match could be experiencing the bug. It's even possible that another player did figure out how to recreate the issue and is taking advantage of it. The bug's existence alone will introduce a fear that any given player could be using a wall glitch of sorts.
Activision and Infinity Ward have their work cut out for them. It seems like multiple bugs are being discovered in Modern Warfare every week. Bugs that are strong enough that they risk the competitive integrity of a match. Whether it be explosions going through walls, exploiting a glitch that erases a player's name and enemy indicator, or simply taking advantage of broken Shipment spawns, Modern Warfare is having a rough time right now. And yet a lot of Modern Warfare players are having more fun than ever.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
