Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies’ next map is just over a week away, and fans have no shortage of reasons to be excited. An iconic SMG from Zombies’ past is on the way, while a Wonder Weapon inspired by Origins’ staves has been both leaked and teased. The story is starting to pick up as Treyarch further explores Chaos connections via the Sentinel Artifact, another CoD Zombies song from Kevin Sherwood is on the way, and numerous side Easter eggs will apparently be scattered throughout the new playspace. In addition to all of this, an “evocative” Pack-a-Punch camo has been teased, which could turn out to be more impactful than one may think.

While Pack-a-Punch camos have no impact on the gameplay of a CoD Zombies map, they still contribute to its personality and can make the upgrade process more or less exciting depending on how one feels about their appearance. In the older Call of Duty Zombies games, all upgraded weapons had the same camo, with World at War having a silver engraved design, Black Ops boasting a digital appearance, and the Victis BO2 maps having a dark and rocky camo pattern. Mob of the Dead and Origins got the ball rolling on map-specific Pack-a-Punch camos, though, which has become the norm in modern releases like Black Ops 6. Based on Treyarch’s "evocative" wording, the latter of those two maps will likely serve as The Tomb’s camo inspiration, which should be the first of many little victories for fans of traditional Pack-a-Punch designs.

What We Know about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies’ Tomb Wonder Weapon

While Treyarch has revealed a fair bit about Black Ops 6's Tomb, Wonder Weapon info is limited, though there's still enough to speculate about.

An Origins-Like Black Ops 6 Camo is a Guaranteed Win

With not every camo being a win in the eyes of fans - Der Eisendrache and Blood of the Dead’s camos were criticized for essentially just being bright colors, for example - Treyarch returning to a nostalgic design it knows fans will love is a safe decision. Plus, considering The Tomb’s likely Origins vibes, bringing back the glowing blue 115 camo should be thematically appropriate. Black Ops 2 fans adored this look, as there was nothing like it at the time, with its vibrant blue exuding power and instantly making the weapon feel stronger. Treyarch has been very willing to pay homage to the design over the years, with examples including the green Weaponized 115 variant from Black Ops 3 or Warzone’s Reflect 115 design, so a comeback within a round-based map would feel quite natural.

Like MWZ before it, Black Ops 6 allows players to disable Pack-a-Punch camos, which is useful if they do not like the design or want to keep their mastery camos on display.

Future CoD Zombies Maps Could Revive and Evolve Old School PaP Camos

With each tier of Pack-a-Punch changing the color of upgraded weapons in modern Zombies games, The Tomb players will likely be able to obtain two other colors in addition to the light blue variant from Origins. This balance of two fresh camos and one classic one is a great way to combine the new with the old, and it’s easy to imagine how Treyarch could expand upon other classic PaP camos in a similar fashion, such as:

  • Der Riese’s Engraving Camo: A camo that Zombies fans regularly say they would like to see make a return, some updates to this World at War aesthetic could provide bronze and gold variants alongside the traditional silver.
  • IX’s Royal Glow Camo: CoD Zombies loves its glowing Pack-a-Punch camos, and while IX doesn’t buck the trend, its usage of gold scales throughout the camo offers the best of both worlds. With elements of the Chaos narrative being merged into the Dark Aether storyline, a camo from those maps could be a good fit.
  • Gorod Krovi’s Dragonfire Camo: While its unlikely that dragons will ever be as prominent as they were in Gorod Krovi, they’ve already appeared in the Dark Aether universe thanks to Outbreak’s rocket side activity. As such, some new colors of Dragonfire, like white, pink, and black, could be a possibility.

While Origins' Pack-a-Punch camo seemingly returning could be a one-off occurrence, as both Origins and The Tomb share a dig site setting and have a connection because of that, there is absolutely potential to update other old camos. Doing so from time to time could provide a burst of nostalgia for veteran CoD Zombies fans, while new players are none the wiser, as they will simply be seeing a gorgeous camo for the very first time.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.

The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.

In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.

Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
