Many game studios are having all possible employees work from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Bungie is one such studio, as it continues to work on current and future Destiny 2 content. One challenge that comes up, however, is employee computer hardware, as not every employee has a robust gaming rig. Bungie, luckily, has a great solution at hand.

Not only is Bungie providing what it calls "developer-grade laptops" to those working at home, but it created a unique setup for Q&A. Bungie COO Patrick O'Kelley explained to IGN that it's using Google Stadia as its test solution, and that Bungie's working with Google to create a testing environment for its Q&A team.

"Getting playtests at scale is a hard thing to do - a lot of bandwidth involved - so they've been collaborating with us to set that up and that looks like it's going to be a really amazing solution for us," is how O'Kelley explains it. Google Stadia will allow playtesters to rigorously test in-development aspects of Destiny 2 without relying on hardware that would otherwise only be available in the Bungie studio.

Like other studios, Bungie is doing its best to deliver on its promises to Destiny 2 players despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. That's clearly not so simple a thing to do, but Bungie is doing its best. It's amazing how technology like Google Stadia is enabling a studio like Bungie to work on Destiny 2 in ways few could have predicted even a year ago.

Destiny 2 is available now on Google Stadia, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
