Players will encounter monsters of all shapes and sizes in Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD. They will also have to fight bosses to progress in the main storyline and unlock all the special abilities available. Players and enemies have Hit Points (HP) that represent how much damage they can take before falling unconscious.
However, enemy HP isn't visible automatically, which can make it challenging to strategize during combat when deciding between offensive and defensive moves. So, here's how to reveal HP for monsters and other enemies in Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD.
How to See Enemy HP in Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster
Finding enemies isn't difficult in Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD as they spawn randomly outside cities and inside dungeons. Players can increase or decrease the spawn rate depending on how often they want monster encounters. Additionally, players fight powerful enemies to unlock Jobs and other rewards.
Players can reveal enemy HP using the Examine ability, which is available as a Freelancer skill. Freelancer is the default Job that all party members have, and it gives players a versatile combat style. Examine also shows players the following:
- Weaknesses
- Monster Family
Examine is only active during the turn it is used.
Players can use the left trackpad to see the monster's HP and weaknesses after examining it once.
This allows them to know how much more damage they must do and what weakness the monsters have. Players can determine if they should use healing, status, or damage-dealing attacks. Players can access other magic types by taking one as their Job and setting Freelancer as their Ability Job Command. For example, players can use White Magic and the Freelancer Abilities. Having at least one Party Member play a supporting role by using status cures, healing, Examine, and party buffs is essential to staying in battle longer.
Players can also upgrade their weapons and spells by visiting shops in the main cities throughout the storyline. Even if players unlock the Job, they can't use any of the spell abilities unless they purchase the Spell Scroll. Better weapons, such as katanas, are more effective against large enemies.
Monsters in the wild and dungeons aren't that difficult to take down, but boss fights are more challenging. Boss enemies typically have HP that is 1000+, and travel in pairs or groups. Players will want to use multi-target spells to spread out their damage. They can also use the Brave combat feature to deal more damage.
The Family type determines weaknesses, and most monsters have at least one weakness. Players can mix and match the Job abilities to give themselves more variety when it comes to attack and spell types. Targeting a monster with its weakness deals more damage, which is essential when fighting stronger bosses. See below for all the monster Family types in Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD:
