Survivors of Adversity is Botany Manor's second chapter, and it tasks players with growing two plants. Specifically, fans must create a Fulguria and an Ash Plume, both of which only bloom when certain conditions are present. This walkthrough is here to provide details on those conditions, and it will help players complete Botany Manor's Survivors of Adversity chapter.
This guide makes references to many named locations in Botany Manor. If a player is ever confused about the precise position of a location, they are advised to reference the Grounds and Ground Floor maps that appear at the front of the in-game Herbarium.
Puzzle Games You Have To Be A Genius To Complete
While there are dozens of puzzle games for fans to choose from, some of these titles are nearly impossible to complete.
Botany Manor: Chapter 2 Walkthrough
Grow Fulguria
The first step toward growing a Fulguria is locating its seed packet, and it can be found on a chair at the bottom of the Grand Staircase. For full clarity, that room is just past the door on the right side of the Main Hall, and fans of indie video games may want to take a moment to examine the photographs that are sitting upon the nearby table.
With the Fulguria seed packet in hand, players must focus their efforts on creating the conditions that make it grow. Specifically, fans of immersive sims must simulate a thunderstorm, as the Folklore Book in the Dining Room confirms that Fulguria can only bloom under those conditions.
To simulate a storm, players need to expose a planted Fulguria seed to two things: water and light. Here are details on how to create those exposures, and fans of puzzle games will have a full-grown Fulguria plant upon executing the final step:
- Go to the planting station in the Vestibule at the front of the manor.
- Fill a pot with planting soil, select Fulguria from the seed inventory, and interact with the green watering can.
- Carry the watered Fulguria seed into the Drawing Room, and place the pot on the shelf in front of the camera.
- Go to the Apothecary.
- Add two Potassium and one Magnesium to the flask. This ratio is confirmed by the Empty Flash Powder bottle on the desk in the Drawing Room.
- Carry the flask into the Drawing Room and pour its contents into the flashlamp to the right of the camera.
- Interact with the flashlamp to close it.
- Press the red button on the table between the flashlamp and the camera.
Grow Ash Plume
As is the case with the Fulguria, players must find the Ash Plume seed packet before they can grow the relevant plant. To do this, fans of educational games should collect the Back Terrace key from the table near the Drawing Room's piano, and then use that object to open the door on the right side of the Screens Passage. Players should then use the stairs on the Back Terrace to descend into the Rose Garden, and they will find the Ash Plume seed packet on a table in that area.
Fans of relaxing video games must now create the conditions that allow the Ash Plume seed to grow. Specifically, players must expose the seed to conditions that are reminiscent of a forest fire, and here are details on how that is done:
There are a variety of clues that are used to confirm the conditions required for growing an Ash Plume, including the Dartmoor Lecture in the Kitchen, the Seed Log in the Rose Garden, and the Dartmoor Poster and Pyrophies in the Screens Passage.
- Continue through the Rose Garden, and collect the Kitchen key from the Viewpoint.
- Go to the planting station at the top of the Back Terrace.
- Fill a pot with planting soil, and select Ash Plume from the seed inventory.
- Carry the planted Ash Plume seed through the Screens Passage and into the Kitchen.
- Place the pot in the pan over the open flame. This will cause the seed to crack.
- Carry the pot through the Servants Hall and Kitchen Garden, and place it on the saucer inside the Smokery.
- Grab a piece of Oak from the Kitchen Garden, and place it on the fire in the Smokery. This wood selection is confirmed by the Poem on the wall in the Servants Hall.
Enter Orchard
Once both plants have bloomed, players should exit the manor, pass through the Entrance Garden, and follow the path to the Gatehouse. Here, fans of cozy video games will find the Orchard key, and they can use it to open a gate on the left side of the Entrance Garden and begin Chapter 3.
