Veronica Allen Was One Of The Main Villains In The Second Season Of Bosch And She Returned In Two Subsequent Seasons
Veronica Allen epitomizes the L.A. Noir vibe of the Bosch-verse, and she's one of the most memorable villains to feature in Harry Bosch's story. She's also one of the only villains to get away with murder, despite Bosch's best efforts to bring her down. She first appeared as a major character in the second season, when her husband, Tony Allen, was murdered. She was initially treated like a victim, but it soon transpired that she'd plotted to kill her spouse with her lover and corrupt ex-LAPD officer turned security man, Carl Nash. Bosch and Edgar kill Nash in a shootout towards the end of season 2, but Veronica goes on to commit another murder, when she kills a priest called Father Tabakian, after a disagreement over funds stolen from her by her dead husband's girlfriend. Allen claims she killed Tabakian in self-defense when Bosch and Edgar turn up at the crime scene, but she is taken away in handcuffs.
Allen re-appeared in the first episode of the third season of Bosch, during her trial for murder, and she is defended by Honey Chandler. Allen tearfully testifies on the stand, and Bosch is also called to testify against her, but a mixture of Chandler's legal skills and Allen's manipulation leads to a not guilty verdict, and Allen walks free. However, this isn't the last time Allen appears, as she turns up in season 5, and Bosch is re-united with his nemesis, as he turns up at Chandler's office for a meeting, as Allen is leaving after her own session with the nifty defense lawyer. It was a short cameo, and that is the last time Veronica Allen was seen in the Bosch-verse.

Veronica Allen was a fan favorite villain, and it always felt like there was more story to explore with her character in future seasons. But, she never appeared again after the fifth season, and she was left to roam free despite the brutal crimes she committed. It never felt right that Veronica Allen was never convicted, but this is one of the reasons why Bosch and Bosch: Legacy are great shows, because justice isn't always served, and this is a true reflection of the real world, and more specifically, Los Angeles. A rewatch of Ryan Murphy's true-crime series, American Crime Story: The People vs O. J Simpson sums up how the justice system often gets it wrong in the city of angels, and that particular case has been mentioned numerous times in the Bosch-verse.
With Bosch: Legacy ending after season 3, it's very unlikely Veronica Allen will ever return now, and that doesn't sit right with a lot of fans. Ballard will be a different show, and it isn't likely a character so intrinsically linked to Harry Bosch will appear in a series where he will just be a recurring character in someone else's story. Any potential Veronica Allen appearance in Ballard would probably be brief, like it was in the fifth season of Bosch, and it would do a disservice to the character. However, a proper ending to Bosch: Legacy with at least one more season would give the creative team a chance to bring back characters like Veronica Allen, and tie up some much-needed loose ends.
