Summary

  • A feature-length Bosch: Legacy movie could wrap up the loose ends and give fans a satisfying conclusion.
  • Bosch: Legacy deserves a movie send-off like other canceled shows to properly end its story.
  • Many successful TV shows have gotten movie versions, showing Bosch: Legacy deserves the same.

Bosch: Legacy season 3 will be the end of Harry Bosch's solo stories. It will be an abrupt end to Prime Video's longest running show, but Bosch will continue to appear in a recurring role in the spin-off series, Ballard. The end of Bosch: Legacy has been billed as a natural end to the series, but it's very clear it was actually a cancelation. This is why fans have launched a petition to save the show and give the creative team a chance to end the story properly. One way Bosch: Legacy could end in a satisfying way would be to do a movie adaptation of it.

If a Bosch: Legacy movie was to be made, it wouldn't necessarily get a release in theaters, as Amazon tends to put their feature-length projects straight onto their streaming platform. However, a two-hour final send off for Bosch: Legacy would be a perfect way to bow out, and a fitting tribute to the series that put Amazon on the streaming map way back in 2014.

Bosch: Legacy - Will Guest Spots In Ballard Be Enough For Harry Bosch?

Bosch: Legacy is ending after season 3, but Harry Bosch will make guest appearances in Ballard, but fans are worried it might not be enough.

A Feature Length Bosch: Legacy Movie Would Give The Creative Team The Opportunity To Tie Up Loose Ends

Bosch: Legacy Season 3

Starring

Titus Welliver, Mimi Rogers, Madison Lintz, Chang, Denise G. Sanchez, Scott Klace, Gregory Scott Cummins, Troy Evans, Orla Brady, Michael Reilly Burke, Andrea Cortes, Dale Dickey, Mark Rolston, Anthony Gonzales, Tommy Martinez and Maggie Q

Based on the books by

Michael Connelly

Created by

Tom Bernardo, Michael Connelly, and Eric Ellis Overmyer

In an ideal world, Bosch: Legacy would run for at least four more seasons alongside the companion show, Ballard, with exciting crossover opportunities for both shows. However, fans need to be realistic due to Amazon's attitude towards the Bosch-verse. The streamer clearly doesn't see the value in expanding Michael Connelly's television universe, and it has opted to end Harry Bosch's main story abruptly after Bosch: Legacy season 3. 98 episodes of Bosch and Bosch: Legacy combined, and it still has a legion of devoted fans and high viewing figures. Television shows that don't possess the same high level of storytelling capabilities as Bosch: Legacy have bowed out on their own terms, when the time is right. Surely there is enough money left in the pot to fund one last hurrah for Harry Bosch in a one-off movie.

There are so many loose ends that need tying up, and this could be done if the creative team are given one more story to tell in feature-length form. Sure, Harry Bosch's story won't be fully over, as he'll appear in Ballard, but he'll only be a side character in that show. And it's not just Bosch's story that needs to be considered: Honey Chandler and Maddie Bosch are co-leads in Bosch: Legacy and their character arcs need to be completed as well. A feature length movie version would essentially be like two episodes, which would essentially bring the overall series to the magic number of 100.

Many Shows Have Been Given Feature Length Send-Offs, So This Is The Least Bosch: Legacy Deserves

There have been a lot of television shows that have faced the dreaded cancelation, only to be revived in the form of a feature-length movie version. Bosch: Legacy deserves the same treatment, and there's every chance history could repeat itself, but it'll probably need the fans to kick up a fuss for anything like this to happen. One of the most famous unjustified cancelations ever was Joss Whedon's superb sci-fi action series Firefly back in 2002. The show was a fan favorite, but the network was hasty in canceling it after only 14 episodes. However, DVD sales were very strong, and it won critical acclaim, and Universal felt this was enough to justify a movie version called Serenity in 2005. It was essentially a second season that was translated into two hours, but it worked to give it a proper ending.

Television Shows With Movie Versions

  • El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019)
  • Deadwood: The Movie (2019)
  • The Many Saints Of Newark: A Sopranos Story (2021)
  • Veronica Mars (2014)
  • Serenity (2005)

Bosch: Legacy has arguably done enough to warrant a movie version even if it hadn't been canceled. Alongside the original Bosch series, it's up there alongside one of the greatest television shows of all time, and a movie spin-off is usually inevitable after success on the small screen. Breaking Bad and The Sopranos were given the respect to end on their own terms, and movie versions were still given the go ahead. Bosch: Legacy's need for a movie version is more pressing than these two shows, because it hasn't been given the opportunity to end properly.

Bosch: Legacy - What Is A K Party?

Bosch and Bosch: Legacy feature a lot of LAPD jargon, and one of which is known as a 'K Party' to describe a particular event.
