Bosch: Legacy's upcoming third season is the final one after Amazon canceled it over six months ago. However, Titus Welliver isn't ready for Harry Bosch to ride off into the sunset just yet. Welliver has revealed that there is a possibility of Bosch: Legacy returning in a different format at some point in the future, which is a huge boost for the fans.

For over six months now, it's been known that the creative team behind Bosch: Legacy were not prepared for the cancelation of the show, and they had exciting plans for another season. Titus Welliver has also revealed what those exact plans were, and they would have followed the trajectory of Michael Connelly's book series. Welliver will appear in three episodes of the Ballard spin-off, but the vast majority of fans want Bosch's solo story to continue alongside it. The Save Bosch: Legacy campaign has created so much noise, it looks like it might just achieve its goal.

Titus Welliver Latest Comments Are A Big Boost For Fans Who Want More Bosch: Legacy

Harry Bosch in season 3

Amazon's masterplan was to push Harry Bosch out the door without any fuss, but the fans fought back with the Save Bosch: Legacy petition, which has completely overshadowed the final season marketing push. Titus Welliver hasn't been following Amazon's script in recent weeks, and instead of going along with Bosch: Legacy's 'fitting end,' he's been speaking out during interviews to support the petition and fight for more Harry Bosch solo stories. In a recent interview with TV Insider, he said:

There’s always a distinct possibility, like they’ve done with Jack Ryan and Reacher, [for] spin-off feature-length films. So is there a possibility of life for that character? I think so.

The Save Bosch: Legacy campaign has always pushed for the idea of a movie version to wrap up Harry Bosch's story, and this now looks like the most realistic outcome. The media attention and fan letters to Amazon, alongside the petition, has really put Amazon in a very tough spot when it comes to their cancelation of Bosch: Legacy. The floodgates opened recently as the cast and crew began to speak out with Mimi Rogers 'Tell Amazon' holler to fans, Mitzi Roberts' backing of the petition, and let's not forget, Troy Evans' controversial statement:

Amazon's pre-cancelation promise to Bosch: Legacy used to consist of allowing the creative team to make plans for future seasons with swift renewals, but this all changed when Bosch: Legacy was canceled after filming on the third season had already been completed. Bosch: Legacy's showrunner waxed lyrical about Amazon's previous support in an interview with Collider back in November 2023:

I think the consistency for a show over many seasons comes with the trust of a network to invest, so to speak, literally and figuratively, into the show and let the creatives, to a certain point, know that, 'It's okay. If you do something big in this season, you will have time to explore that and make it go on in the next season.

Amazon's content strategy has drastically changed over the last couple of years, and it now focuses on catering to the younger demographic and canceling shows with high viewership. Titus Welliver told TV Insider what the actual plans were for another season of Bosch: Legacy, and they could potentially be used for a future feature-length storyline:

We had already been pre-planning what Season 4 was going to look like, because we’d ostensibly discussed the idea that Harry, as he does in the books, returns to be a volunteer detective for the San Fernando Police Department.

Michael Connelly's books have been the roadmap that has guided Bosch and Bosch: Legacy over the years, and there are plenty more cases for Harry Bosch to solve in the future, if Amazon would step up and listen to the creative team and the fans. The pressure is mounting on the streamer to do exactly that, and based on Titus Welliver's recent comments, it seems like it's more than likely to happen. More sign-ups mean more pressure on Amazon to give Harry Bosch a proper ending.
