In Boruto, Sarada Uchiha is just one of the many characters who deserve a true main character moment. She’s more than just a supporting character, as she has all the qualities to become something more. Now that Two Blue Vortex is giving her the narrative weight she deserves, fans feel her main character moment has long been overdue. The Boruto manga has only scratched the surface of what she can become, after all.
At the moment, fans are buzzing with excitement over Sarada’s new Mangekyo Sharingan ability: Ohirume. It’s shaping up to be one of the most powerful jutsu in Boruto, standing alongside the new Rasengan variant, Uzuhiko. In the latest chapters, Sarada demonstrates how dangerous and lethal Ohirume is, as she effortlessly defeats one Human God Tree in the most unexpected fashion.

Sarada Fades into the Background as Boruto and Kawaki Shine
Sarada’s Light is Dimmed by Fate
Before Sarada awakened her Mangekyo Sharingan: Ohirume and took center stage during the fight against Ryu somewhere in the Land of the Wind, the manga's primary focus was always on the complicated relationship between Boruto and Kawaki. Rather than overshadowing other characters, as some might expect from someone carrying such a powerful legacy, Sarada was often the one being sidelined.
As soon as Kawaki entered the picture, Sarada was instantly sidelined, leaving her and Mitsuki behind. One major reason she struggled to keep up with Boruto and Kawaki was her lack of direct involvement in the Otsutsuki conflict, as she had no karma seal and no relevant ties to Momoshiki or the Kara organization. In other words, most of the narrative was pulled away from the traditional ninja path that Sarada somehow represents.
"I plan on becoming a Hokage by choosing a different path than my dad"—Sarada Uchiha
After all, Sarada’s ninja way is reminiscent of Naruto’s, which is built on a foundation of unwavering will, relentless hard work, and constant training. This is in stark contrast to the new era, where power often comes from the Otsutsuki-related sources, including the karma seals and the shinjutsu.
Sarada Is a Rare Shinobi by Uchiha Standards
Sarada Is One of a Kind
Born from two of the most iconic bloodlines in the Naruto world, Sarada is definitely a rare shinobi. Her mother is none other than Sakura, not to mention her father is the great Sasuke Uchiha. As their daughter, Sarada has all the qualities and potential to become something more. Her natural aptitude for chakra control, in addition to her physical strength and her dojutsu, makes her more special than anyone else.
"Now that I know, I can't just stand around and do nothing!"—Sarada Uchiha
However, despite Sarada's potential and the powerful legacy she carries, her development in the Boruto manga is more grounded and slow-burning. Unlike Boruto, whose rapid growth is tied to cosmic-level threats and Otsutsuki powers, Sarada’s growth has followed a more conventional path, despite her constant presence. Fortunately, Two Blue Vortex finally gives Sarada a well-earned moment of redemption, as she becomes the first shinobi to single-handedly defeat a Human God Tree without breaking a sweat.
Sarada Receives a Main Character Moment in Two Blue Vortex
Her Long Overdue Time to Shine
At the moment, Sarada fans have every reason to celebrate, as the latest chapters of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex have finally given her a chance to shine. In chapter 21, Sarada reawakens her Mangekyo Sharingan and unlocks a powerful new ability called Ohirume. It was a momentous chapter, as she earned massive aura points from using Ohirume to take down one of the most recent Human God Trees to come into being, Ryu.
"Don't worry. This ability may have just awakened but…I already know what it can do." —Sarada Uchiha
Moreover, Sarada experiences significant character growth when she finally accepts her true feelings for Boruto. For a long time, she viewed those emotions as a potential weakness, something that might hold her back from becoming stronger or achieving her dream of becoming Hokage. However, she’s done running away and averting her gaze, realizing that her feelings would not weaken but empower her.
By the end of chapter 21, it’s clear that Sarada has become one of the strongest characters in Boruto, making her more relevant than before. If this continues in the next releases, there’s no telling how far Sarada could grow, as she could unlock more unique abilities in the future.
